Adoption statistics and other cool news...
A coworker of mine just gave me statistics stemming from this weekend's special adoption of 10 seized puppies.
According to Ed Boks, about 500 people showed up at Saturday's auction at East Valley Animal Shelter. Some people actually waited since midnight. This event increased the chance for other animals to get adopted. Of the 150 animals adopted Saturday across the city, 107 came from the East Valley Shelter.
In other great news...here's information from a news brief published in today's paper. I'd link to it but there's no link to be found. So here's the information:
Benefactor paying for pet adoptions
A well-heeled animal lover will pay for all animal adoptions at San Fernando Valley animal shelters between now and Christmas, Animal Services Department officials announced Sunday.
The anonymous benefactor will finance all $91 dog adoptions and $64 cat adoptions at the East and West Valley shelters in Van Nuys and Chatsworth. Each animal will come spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, said Ed Boks, general manager for the Los Angeles Department of Animal
"It would be great if everyone could be such a Santa Claus in helping animals," Boks said. He said: 'I just want you guys to go wild; I want you guys to adopt as many animals as possible."
