Update on local fires and animal evacuation centers...

| | Comments (2) |

Here's an update to THIS POST! The website that shows fire updates hasn't said anything yet but I just heard on the television that horses and other livestock are being brought to Pierce College in Woodland Hills. And you can click on this article for more information. Keep coming here for more information on animal evacuations.

EDIT: I just heard the newscast on KTLA. Both animal evacuation centers at Pierce College and Hansen Dam do accept pets aside from large animals such horses and other livestock.

Yes! I am at Pierce now and have been here since early afternoon. When I arrived, trailer after trailer of horses(and one pony) were being brought in! I counted at least three dozen trailers full o' horses! It was an awesome site!!!

They needed more room for the evacuees, so they took the school horses out of their individual pens and turned them all loose into a large pipe corral across El Rancho Road. It was an amazing site to watch these "big dogs", as I call them, romp and rear and buck and basically act like foals again. It's amazing because some of these geezers are in their 30's!!!! That's like a 90 year old human!

I highly recommend driving or walking down this road and glancing at all the animals. Things have calmed down a bit now, I think, so you probably won't get in anyone's way. Just yield to any trailers you see coming! :-)

I think some of the horses came from Stoney Point riding academy in Chatsworth, although I'm not sure.

hmmm... I may just do that. The problem right now is I took the bus. I'll have to call Chris. I'd love to do that if I can. We'll see.
