MATTHEW KREDELL

Matthew Kredell broke into the Daily News in 1998, working part time at the paper while going to USC. The basketball team’s Elite Eight run in 2000-01 was USC’s athletic highlight in his time at the school, when the football team was stuck in the Paul Hackett-era. After graduating in 2001, he started writing for the Daily News full time. He’s in his second year covering USC, which coincides with the rise of the program. He’ll take credit for the success, though Tim Floyd may have more to do with it. A third-generation Los Angelean, he grew up reading the Daily News while at El Camino Real High School in Woodland Hills.

can you start doing the blog for the football team also? I love reading your blog, it's very good.

Yeah, he keeps it relevant unlike Scott who likes to post on former players' love lives.

Comeon guys, they're both good. It just so happens there's not a whole lot to write about football at the moment (update: Mustain still hasn't decided anything!).

By the way, Matt, I wasn't bustin' your chops for picking Texas. I think 70/30 was around consensus...at least before the tourney. After Theus gave them a run for the money and we dismantled Arkansas, perceptions changed a little. We're still getting no love though...8 point dogs to UNC (only the Bulldogs and Salukis are getting less love in Vegas).

I agree with Tyler and Ringo. I really enjoy Matt's blog. Unlike Wolf's football blog, this one isn't filled with rumor, innuendo and cheap shots against the program, players and university. Great job, Matt!

Regarding the spread for Friday's game, I am also not sure why the over/under is 150. That says to me that Vegas does not think that USC can stop UNC even though we have pretty much held every team we have played this year under 50% FG percentage. I think that line is screwy. I think we have a chance at winning if we play tough defense and rebound while staying out of foul trouble. Our problem with UNC is going to be their depth. They run ten guys at you in a game. But I don't see a high scoring game.
