I'll let you fill in your own punch line for this event. By the way, what is Paul McDonald's angle here?

WHAT,
SCOOT YOU ARE TREADING ON THE WRONG GROUND HERE

LAWYER JOHN Author Profile Page said:

A famous Old Testament saying, Scott, is 'Judge not, lest ye be judged."

Matt Leinart does not have to be a perfect person to talk about what God means to him. We live in an imperfect world and so we are filled with imperfect people. It can be a difficult world, but most men and women do their best. Certainly God cannot expect anymore out of us than that, and I don't believe He/She sends anyone to everlasting fire punishiment. Would you do that to anybody you know, no matter how horrible they are to you?-- Yes, even Stalin and the other barbarians.

And no matter what religion, if any, one espouses, most believe in God. I once read one person's opinion that if all religions started to ascend a common mountain, they'd be at different points, until they reached the top where they all would merge and come together. One God, one "religion."

I don't trust religions, they have caused more world separation and suffering than they have caused good. But I love God and am thankful for each breath I take.

And it amazes me that more folks don't become aware of that piece of God that resides in them, and then take advantage of that emotion, spirit and energy that lies dormant in most. Why go it alone when help is simply waiting for your call.

Scott, you're a hypocrite. You complain about the growing incivility among bloggers on this site, then you serve up softballs such as this one for the ruin troglodytes. Haven't you better things to do?

kuhn Author Profile Page said:

Since Scott failed to link to my site even though I sent this to him, I have no qualms with including it here:

Guys, ease up and laugh a little, will ya? Hypocrisy + religion is too good to pass up.

So the time has come to quit reading the Daily News, quit reading this blog, and complain to Daily News management about this so-called reporter. Doesn't it make sense for us all to just go read the L.A. Times and the Orange County Register for our sports news? The unprofessional conduct of Scott Wolf is legendary. He has no sources. He has no breaking information. He has no evident writing style. He goes out of his way to insult anybody and everybody while supposedly being charged with covering the only real football team in Los Angeles. He's done all this for months/years, yet the Daily News continues to employ him as the USC beat writer. It's time for us all to leave, to quit paying attention to this mess so the Daily News hierarchy will get a clue, and it's time for Scott Wolf to get another job. Obviously he can't do the one he has now.

timmay Author Profile Page said:

CONSENSUAL PRE MARITAL SEX! Oh no! He can't be a Christian and believe in anything and have a moral compass.

Things like this make this make Scott look like a real POS. Why bother to attack a couple of USC legendary guys about their religion and charity? And why is that acceptable. Notice that 99% of the Bruin trolls passed it up?

Brainiac Author Profile Page said:

They have a faith, Scotty.

Unlike you, they believe in God, not in tearing people down.

uschoopnut Author Profile Page said:

This is low, even for Wolf.

USC Red Author Profile Page said:

Lawyer John,

A couple of things stick out about your post.

#1) You are assuming that Wolf is "judging" Matt Leinart.

#2) 'Judge not, lest ye be judged' is actually from the New Testament

#3) You "love God" but don't know if God is a "he" or a "she"?

#4) Contrary to what people WANT to believe, the world's religions do not teach the same things, regarding God(s)/supreme beings, humans, or even morality. There is no "one" mountain. If there is, in that analogy, what is at the top of the mountain? What overarching commonality is there? It's not as easy of an answer as many think.

#5) What if God does expect more than "doing our best"?

Not "judging", just curious... :)

Matt Leinart was the best thing to happen to USC football in the last decade. I don't give a damn what he does off the field or even in the NFL. Dude gave us two national championships and almost gave us a third. Fight on.

norcaltroy Author Profile Page said:

SW, why even go there? We don't care what you think about religion, politics, and the like. We come to your blog to get information on USC. That's it. Please stick to that.

Redemption, it's a beautiful thing. I live in Arizona, and it would be hard not to have your life influenced by Kurt Warner.

"Paul McDonald's angle"
Come on Wolf, what do you think?
Maybe something about "Athletes and Philanthropy"

Charlie Bucket Author Profile Page said:

oh c'mon, this is so sugar sweeet...how can anyone pass up the chance to chuckle at this choice of speaker on this topic?

there is an old saying, "the fallen woman(or man) should always be welcomed into the church....but they probably shouldn't be leading the choir on their first day."

fartnuggets00 Author Profile Page said:

I definitely see the irony in this. However, the Catholic Church does frown on the use of birth control, so the one thing that I can say is that at least Matt Leinart is somewhat consistent with the teachings of Catholicism.

sureshot Author Profile Page said:

What's your deal, Scooter? Matt has been a outstanding philanthropist for years - he's been donating his seed to all the young coeds for the better part of a decade. Ha ha.

No matter what you say or think about Matt, he's stayed clean in the eyes of the law. He may (or may not) be the best dad in the world and he certainly loves ladies in his hot tub, but who cares? Maybe he donates time and money to youth athletics. Maybe he spends time down at the soup kitchen in between beer bong hits. Maybe he helps the monsignor after holding Kurt Warner's clipboard on Sundays.

I don't pretend to know what Matt does with his spare time and it's funny when you insinuate that you do (since you seem to know nothing else about what goes on inside Heritage Hall).

Fight on!

Time for a new USC beat writer: Won't make a difference. The editors are asleep at the wheel too. Imagine the level of competence it took to hire him in the first place.

Chuckle is accepted. I believe the tone of Secodhand Wolfs post is what people are reacting to. The guy is negative, sarcastic and a lousy journalist to boot. And he posts this stuff. Enjoy the roast. It will continue. I am with "Time for a new USC beat writer." Those who enjoy SC athletics deserve better. Read the Times.

It's the off season everyone, chill. When football season and National Signing Day are over, this blog turns into Every Day Should Be Saturday, the Trojan edition unless something happens. I've made my peace with that. You should too.
