Walker/Chow/Orgeron Ticket

| | Comments (17) |

My new recommendation is a DeWayne Walker/Norm Chow/Ed Orgeron troika in charge of USC football next season. Walker will be head coach/defensive coordinator, Chow will be associate head coach/offensive coordinator and Orgeron will be assistant head coach/recruiting coordinator. It only takes three phone calls and $1.5 million per coach.

How about a Del Rio/Chow/Orgeron ticket?

Walker doesn't have much head coaching experience

and what do you think are the chances of chow coming back? that would obviously be a top notch coaching staff....although i'm a little worried about having walker has the head coach with the little experience he has

Who' going to be the junior associate head coach?

Who's going to be the junior assistant head coach?

How about assistant recruiting coordinator? Junior assistant recruiting coorinator?????????????????

More importantly, how's going to be the Head head coach? And how much should he or she get paid? 3x$1.5mil = $4.5mil? That sounds about right? Can the assistant AD make that hire without the approval of the associate AD or the head AD?

Uh, Scott...could you at least try to disguise your excitement at Pete's departure just a little bit? I realize you're not a REAL journalist, but at this point it's beyond embarrassing. The new coach will have you pegged in no time, so don't think you'll be able to gain some sort of respect. But, I enjoy your site!

I love the Chow/Orgeron part. I will be honest in that I don't know that much about Walker, and, at least conceptually, would like to shoot higher, but I guess there is a chance that a top-notch, big-name, coach would not take on two big-name assistants like Chow and Orgeron.

I will say that I like ANY scenario where Chow comes back. In my mind, he is the best coordinator at any level. As long as he stays as an O.C., he can be as valuable as anyone Garrett could hire.

I love Orgeron too, if not only for his incredible recruting skills. The guy gets in there and could sell gloves to a guy with no hands. I think he is especially necessary if a head coach like Fisher or Del Rio are hired. Any NFL-type might not be ready for the recruting trail, and nobody is better at that than Oregeron.

I love Chow/Oregeron, but might like the first name on that list to be Riley or Fisher rather than Walker.

wow, reality has set in Norm Chow, Ed Orgeron, Kennedy Pola, and Jack Del Rio! What more can we ask for. Now that Pete Carroll is running we can call it for what it is folks. This past season Pete Carroll was exposed. He was just the p/r guy the assistants were the backbone and we he lost all of them he was exposed. He is not leaving for no other reason other than to hide the fact that his assistants ran the program not him. Sure he is a nice guy, but lets be realistic the assistants ran the winning teams not Pete. I started USC when Robinson was finishing his first run and guess what we were on probation. I have seen the worst from Robinsons successor to Smith to Hackett! I love my Trojans and could not ask for more than to have Norm Chow, Kennedy Pola, Ed Orgeron and Jack Del Rio. Asking for Mike Leach would be reaching! Fight On and stick with us recruits, Your a Trojan For Life!

Don't know enough about Walker except he's a great DC. I would go with Petersen and have the next Myers except a heck of a lot classier.

wolf, i am happy to announce the chuckerbucker administration endorses your ticket. i will even overlook the embarrassing desperation of the Southern Cal folks in calling all their ex's.

chow is top notch, but i get the feeling the Chow/Neu-hassle chemistry is just not there. D-Walker is just the kind of boring integrity guy to come is after chetey petey/timmeh floyd debacles. ogeron and walker keep the recruiting going. i like it. why do i care? sure i would like to see Southern Cal eat it for a year or two, but to paraphrase the Joker to Batman comment: having a competitive Southern Cal around is just too much fun!

you guys are blind.

this job will be only attractive to a unproven coach after the NCAA is done with handing out Pete Penalties.

think Colorado and Washington post Rick Neuheisel 10x.

Get Orgeron on board first if he said he is ready to come back so that he can start working the recruits and then work on Del Rio and Chow. Del Rio was an all american LB, has pretty good NFL ties and experience now so that should be a turn on for recruits. Chow is Chow. These three have the expertise and experience to make a good team so the only question is chemistry between the three.

I gotta say, I haven't been that impressed with Chow the last couple years although I know he has had a deficient Oline to work with and tons of injuries to QBs the last couplle of years.

Don't think that Walker has the experience or charisma for a HC job such as this yet.

Orgeron would be a good move.

Yet honestly, I don't see anyone other than a SC alum such as Del Rio or Fischer wanting to coach the team with the penalties that seem to be coming for the program.

does anyone think Garrett is that smart to pull that off? he better hope he gets lucky again and hits the winning jackpot or his A$$ is GRASS!

Walker??? DUI Walker?? No way, he's way overrated. He coached one good game against us in 2006 and he hasn't done anything else.

Leave Norm Chow's old ass where he is. Vince Young seems to be playing really well without Chow. When Chow was there, Young sucked! Anyone coaching Steve Young, Ty Detmer, Phillip Rivers, Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart will look like an "offensive genious".

The game has passed Chow by, just like Al Davis, still living in the 70s and 80s. Chow and Al Davis need to be put into retirement homes.

You need to check all the facts. He was arrested, case dropped. Alchol content was .01 which is way below DUI limit ...jerk. He also coached UCLA vs BYU in Vegas Bowl after Dorrel was fired. They lost on blocked field goal at end of game final score 17-16.
