Depth Chart

| | Comments (6) |

The depth chart actually got released on a rare Saturday. The backup QB's are just like we mentioned. Some other notables are that Patrick Turner ``or'' Damian Williams at split end, which means Turner did not win the job outright.
Another ego blow took place at defensive end, where Everson Griffen ``or'' Clay Matthews is listed as the starter. This is probably more of a way to try and keep Griffen humble than anything else. Averell Spicer and Christian Tupou are the co-choices at nose tackle.
And then we have this mess at tailback:
4 Joe McKnight (6-0, 200, So.) OR
2 C.J. Gable (6-0, 200, So.*) OR
13 Stafon Johnson (5-11, 215, Jr.) OR
21 Allen Bradford (5-11, 225, Jr.)

A full depth chart is after the jump.

Shareece Wright over Josh Pinkard at CB?

Is there anything to the order of the names? It is not alphabetical? Why go (M)cKnight, (G)able, (J)ohnson, (B)radford? Is there significance to the ordering? Probably most interesting is that P Turner did not lock down his position. That seems to be the only returning, tenured starter to take a step back. I also thought that Ayles might move up to pass Ellison or even McCoy. And, we could really have some depth problems at LB with Luther and Galippo hurt. Hope Rey/Cush stay healthy. Malcom Smith is a great back-up who should play a lot behind Maiava. And, I really like the split between Averill and Christian. Good to have fresh players at NT.

THANK YOU THERE IS A GOD IN HEAVEN AFTER ALL

FINALLY they realize Patrick Tuner is NOT the answer unless you like alot of 4 yard slants and bubble screens ...He is too slow, cannot/does not try to get open, and couldn't care less..Notice Assberry fell down the depth chart too. I am so sick of those 3 loafs (VH #3).."When is the NFL combine again?" is all they are worried about..With RoJo and D.Williams and B.Ayles in there we might actually have a passing game. If you notice JDB, while not the greatest QB, did OK with SS and DJ...but had problems with VH and PT. Hmmmm....

Everything else looks great, RB's, defense should be killer..T. Herring and Howell provide good depth on the O-line..

Ricky Irvins is happy about something. Is that the fourth sign of the apocalypse?

All kidding aside, I too am glad that the coaches seem more open to allowing competition for those WR spots. With that much talent (according to Rivals, Scouts Inc., etc.) there must be at least two or three really good WRs in the mix.

Fight on!

Problem was there wasn't a good QB in the mix and there definitely wasn't a competent OC in the mix. The person I am most concerned about not taking a step back is Sark.

Thanks for the chuckle. That was a good shot, sureshot. Maybe RickyIrvins fell off the wagon (of SC negativity). If so, sure would make for a more pleasant Trojan season.
