Former UCLA golfer Corey Pavin, U.S. Ryder Cup Captain, honored at UCLA press conference
Former UCLA golfer Corey Pavin exchanged gifts with Ben Howland at UCLA's press conference on Tuesday. Howland presented the new U.S. Ryder Cup captain with a UCLA basketball jersey and hat while Pavin presented the UCLA head coach with a Ryder Cup sweatshirt and an official U.S. golf bag.
Pavin, on being named Ryder Cup Captain:
"It's hard to express actually. It's a great honor, a great privilege and a great responsibility that both my wife and I take very seriously. We've been working hard to make sure we do this thing properly. The object is to go over there and win. It's the ultimate competition for us."

Corey,
Way to represent UCLA and Oxnard!!!
Go Bruins/Yellowjackets!
Good luck to Corey and the team, as a golfer no one can hit "ALL" the shots in the bag like Corey and if you follow him on a round of tourney golf you will see them all. Sweet Ryder Cup bag to have, hope Ben enjoy's it!
Like Anon 3:03 said, way to rep Oxnard Corey!
Best shot I've ever seen him make was from a deep, green-side bunker with the hole maybe 12 feet from the edge of the green. I don't remember how long ago it was (over 15 years, for sure), but I think the lip of the bunker was over his head so he couldn't see the hole from where his ball lay. I remember seeing him walking around the green before his shot, studying the slope from every which way, and I thought, "Why is he taking so long? There's no way he's going to make that shot." Sure enough, he made me eat my words with a nice, soft flop shot that landed on the edge of the green and rolled in. Simply amazing.
what about Corey Paus?
