Neuheisel ON: Part 2

From the press conference

On what good he saw from game film:
"I saw improvement. Kevin Prince was better this week. He gets to have another chance this week. I saw improvement in our offensive line. Each week we go and look at our offensive line from a year ago and it's a huge difference against a very talented Cal defensive line. A guy like Johnathan Franklin who has a sprained ankle finds a way to get into the game and compete like he did and gets a long run. That was encouraging. Rahim Moore's concentrated effort to come back and be a real good open-field tackler. He had a great week with that. Those are the kinds of things I see. Those kids are all part of our future. I know in our conversations with our seniors that they haven't thrown in the towel. They see a second half that there's glory to be achieved. I know they're anxious to get out there and be the leaders they are."

On being more creative in the red zone:
"You do two things: No. 1 you look and see what you're capable of doing. But you have to see it demonstrated. We have memories of great red zone offenses. But then you have to ask your individuals who play those position, can they execute them?"

On what the offense needs to do in the end zone:
"It's making the throw that needs to be there on time and when it's there you've got to catch it. We're not far off. Even though it's a frustrating thing, it's a frustrating thing for all of us who are doing it. Once we break through, confidence will grow and it will be more and more and exciting to see. The great things about going through these tough times, there is amnesia when you get there. People forget how hard it was to get there when all of a sudden you've arrived. That's why I come here today with great optimism."

On Aaron Hester:
"Aaron Hester is full-go this week. He's been given a clean bill of health. Now it's about how quickly he can get back into football shape. He hasn't played with his pads on. We'll see how quickly he can adapt. He's a young guy who's dying to play. We have to make sure he's ready to play."

4-8 this year, no improvement, no bowl.

6-6 at best next year, likely no bowl.

Simple as that.

Pathetic.

Ummmm...I don't think that Rahim Moore concentrated enough when he ran himself out of the play on Jhavid Best's 93 yard run.

Methinks Rahim read too many of his clippings after the gift interceptions he caught in the first few games.

In fact the whole defense read their clippings.

Heck, Reggie Carter is still reading his clippings after 13-9.

Thanks for nothing, guys!

Seems like more and more of the CRN and CNC quotes are all about throwing the players under the bus or simply whining that they don't have the talent.

Aren't coaches supposed to be to STRATEGIZE and be CREATIVE in order to find a plan to put them team in a chance to win?

"Glory to be achieved"?? I guess if you consider 5-7 or 6-6 without a bowl "glory" then yes, there is still something to be achieved.

Get ready for the "Debacle in the Desert" this weekend in Tucson!

I won't be watching.

Am I the only one who saw UCLA throw a flea flicker? I'd call that pretty creative.

I'm not really sure what you guys mean when you say you want the offense to be "creative" and I'm not sure you guys do either.

Do you mean they should run reverses and statues of liberty and other trick plays?

It's tough to do complicated stuff when you can't even do the simple stuff effectively.

Our offense is full of underclassmen, run by a redshirt freshman QB. What do you guys expect?

Some so-called UCLA fans are starting to annoy me. You guys are starting to sound like SUC fans.

I totally agree bruinbiochem06! Stick with Rick. Stick with the team. He is our guy. The team is improving in some areas and regressing in other. Youth and inexperience does that. These kids will find themselves and start to believe. I cant believe anyone is questioning in CNC! Like you all somehow know more than he does all of the sudden. Relax and give it some time. Not 2012...but for goodness sakes, relax. Everyone wants a winner now. Even USC took a few years to develop young talent and fill the pipeline before they started winning. Ohio St, constantly has a full pipeline of players.
winning programs do it over years. Not overnight.
