Answers, Part VII
Onto the seventh set:
Do you know which basketball players will be playing summer league?
I am waiting for that information. I am told it should be settled by the end of next week. When I get it, I will pass it along.
RE: George Uko. . . Do you believe that UCLA slow played him, because they really weren't that interested in him?
They slow played him because they didn't think he played hard enough when they watched game film. And when I asked him about it, he said that is what UCLA told him.
Isn't it now time for panic mode at DT with Warner not coming and George Uko dropping us from his list?
No, because I don't think Uko's recruitment with UCLA is over. I still can see him winding up with UCLA. And I don't think he dropped UCLA, but I could be mistaken.
Maybe I missed this, but why isn't RN going after qb Scroggins from lakewood? Because Brehaut will likely redshirt? Or, are there other issues?
It is not solely a football related issue with Scroggins.
So why do you always say that Collison could not have played the off-guard last year? I'm not saying it would have been right to do it, but I don't see the impossibility inherent in him playing the 2 on offense and guarding the opposing team's point on defense.
Because he has trouble catching and shooting, which is key for two-guards, and he is not comfortable playing unless the ball is in his hands. His size makes matchups difficult on the offensive end unless he is penetrating, and he's not a great spot-up shooter. He's not a two-guard. He's a point, and that is it.
Does Howland have any interest in Gary Franklin?
Not that I've heard.
What has happened to the point-forward position in basketball? There were some great ones in the 90s (Pippen, Hill, Mason). Watching Odom and Terkoglu in the finals made me wonder why no one plays that way anymore.
I have no idea. Perhaps defenses became more sophisticated and those players were phased out. Maybe there aren't guys talented enough to do it.

This is

Brian, does this change your position on Uko?
From ESPN:
"Right now, my final five are Oregon, Cal, Tennessee, USC and Oklahoma," Uko said. "All of them have offered except USC and I think they're really close. I'm going to try and get to their camp next week, but I think they could offer soon either way.
"I visited Oregon last weekend for their one day camp and loved it there. It was cool to work with the coaches and I loved the campus, the stadium and all the facilities. I'm going to try and take official visits to the other schools and can't wait to see Oklahoma and Tennessee.
"Cal is a great fit as well and I like their coaching staff and how they plan to use me. They think I'm a great fit in their 3-4 scheme as an outside guy and I like the sound of that as well."
Washington and UCLA missed the cut, but the Huskies still have an outside chance to get back in the mix.
"If USC doesn't offer, then I'm going to put Washington in there," Uko said. "They have been recruiting me hard from the beginning. UCLA is out though, my coach and my dad didn't really like how they recruited me before they finally offered, it seemed like I was recruiting them more than they recruited me.
Isn't it good to know now that Uko is off the boeard, rather than playing the game of having to please the player/dad/coach triumverate?
