Here is the sixth set:

would the team's season also have benefited by his early departure (e.g., Holiday plays the point and wins us a national championship--ha, ha, ha!)?
No. Collison brought leadership and experience to the court. If Holiday played the point, that meant the inexperienced Malcolm Lee would have likely started next to Holiday. That would mean two freshmen in the backcourt.

Finally saw a Chick-fil-a on the road. Based on your blog, I stopped in.
You've been kidding, right? A 2oz chick patty 2 pickle slices and a buttered bun?
DOHN, c'mon man, you're better than THAT!
Perhaps you damaged your taste buds eating mundane fast food all your life and fall to appreciate the greasy, deep-fried goodness that is Chik-fil-A.

Why does the most influential person in UCLA basketball want Pauley to be renovated instead of torn down? Building a new arena is better for the future of UCLA basketball. Can anything or anyone change this person's mind?
Nobody is changing his mind. He adores Pauley, and has a lot of great memories there. If his mind isn't changed by now, it won't be since this project has been in discussions for more than six years.

I am a long time reader, first time poster. If SC is sanctioned, will that have any ramifications on UW and Tennessee since Steve Sarkisian and Lane Kiffin were a part of the years in question? Thanks in advance.
Boy, that's a good question. I would think if Sarkisian and Kiffin were found of wrong-doing, then Washington and Tennessee could be sanctioned. I think it is unlikely, but worth watching.

why would UCLA or the commits want to be silent? I still don't get it.
There are a variety of reasons. They want to take visits elsewhere, they may not want to get hassled by other coaches trying to sway them, a school cold ask it remain quiet because they are recruiting someone else at that position as well, a kid could be an academic risk and this takes pressure off him to keep it quiet and so on.

in light of the sudden lack of depth at the DT position, how many guys is the staff now looking to bring in?
If the staff could get three defensive tackles I think they would be happy.

My wife Vanessa saw Josh Shipp with Jordan Farmar at the Laker parade, is this correct?
From our Lakers writers out at the parade, indeed that is true.

Do you believe that Brandon Warner version of his recruiting process includes all the facts? And, do you believe his perception is accurate?
I believe most of the aspects he talks about because I have behind-the-scenes knowledge that sources asked me not to write about. And when I asked Warner about those things, he confirmed them, but not on the record, so I will not write it.

Brian, will Pooh Richardson's involvement with the drug kingpin become a black eye for UCLA?

Sounds like an ugly situation at best.

It has very little relevance as it relates to UCLA.

The Brandon Warner mess sure smells to me. There has got to be more to the story than has been reported. Somebody either dropped the ball or Stole the ball! Coaching staff? Compton JC Admin? UCLA admin? Brandon himself? Further it appears that Duane Walker is now "back dooring" some UCLA recruits. Somebody needs to put the pieces together in a coherent and logical explanation so that blog members can make sense of this matter. I don't buy into the "didn't show any love" bunk!

Those who are fascinated about making this rutgut brand a winking, snickering recurring theme on what's supposed to be a sports blog, should realize the profits derived from Chik-fil-A sales fund the right wing causes of its whacko founder, S. Truett Cathy...

Yeah, those "whacko right-wing causes" like "Focus on the Family" and "Athletes in Action". Hideous stuff, for sure. The dollars you spend at Chik-Fil-A are your choice, but we can't stop the government from funneling millions of taxpayers dollars to ACORN.

Why are you then injecting politics into a sports blog?

Chik-fil-a is okay but it will never replace In-n-Out!

Another reason this influential person wants it renovated is to keep the cost down. The renovation cost is a runaway freight train. Can you imagine what a 180 million price tag sounds like to this guy, he is appalled and thinks it can be done for much much less. The current renovation and a tear down with the inherent costs make a grounded, old fashioned persons head spin I think.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
