Another practice injury
Backup center Jake Dean went down with a left ankle injury late in practice. He was already running with the first unit because of the injury to Kai Maiava, and it looks unlikely he will be ready for Saturday's spring game.
It left JUCO transfer Ryan Taylor, who was playing guard on the second team, to switch to first-team center. UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel said first-team left tackle Jeff Baca right team right guard Nick Ekbatani may have to take some snaps at center.

This is

Unreal.....what is going on....Offensive line injuries......every year same thing...
And the injury train keeps chugging along...all aboard!I certainly hope there are no more injuries but I am not that optimistic anymore. I hope that we make it to September as healthy as possible.
Ever notice how injured our offensive line has been since the arrival of Brian Price? I say bench BP for the rest of the spring so that we HAVE an offensive line to play, come fall.
If'n our line caint contain Price, what chance do they have agin any other Pac-10 D line? Lookin' at the scrimmage videos, our OL boys look lost, slow, uncoordinated, unmotivated, and downright afeerd. They's allas runnin' after the guy they's supposed to block, like chasing a hog after it sprung outta the pen. Ah'm jest sittin' here on the porch a-shakin' my ol' baldy haid and wonderin' what we done wrong to deserve this.
Ok. Jokes up Neuheisel. You can take all of the injured guys out of the closet now. You have obviously been keeping them stowed away to get some laughs at the fans. But seriously, aside from my poor attempt at humor, this is freaking ridiculous. First it was Moya, Embree, Savage and Harris. I was understanding of them coming off of surgery and such. Then it was Paulsen. Again. Then it was Micah Kia's back. Then it was all this: tight end Morrell Presley (infected cut), linebacker Reggie Carter (eye infection), center Kai Maiava (ankle sprain), tight end Nate Chandler (knee) and linebacker Sean Westgate (concussion). I realize that they aren't life-threatening or career-ending injuries but come on. We are obviously doing something wrong.
Has osteogenesis imperfecta mutated and become an airborne, communicable disease?
I mean, it's not quite two QB's going down on consecutive plays, but geez!
Get rid of the turf & lay some grass out!!!!!!
For $29.99 (plus shipping and handling), I can provide a video documentary on how to keep these young lads healthy and safe as they practice against only themselves. The tips in my video will also help them from being obliterated by the opposition once the real football begins. This is a discount only for UCLA football players as I recognize a need to keep these kids healthy.
Also, I can provide large rolls of bubble wrap at reduced cost to ensure that the group of players on the field is larger than the group of players seeking medical attention from the UCLA staff. I do this as a community service for my state-funded institution. This would also be cheaper in the long run since we are running out of bandages and over-heating the CAT-scan machine over at the Medical Center.
Buy this ounce of prevention for $29.99 (plus shipping and handling) and you will receive a pound of cure.
Sincerely,
Dr. Bobbaganoosh
This is no longer a coincidence! There is clearly something wrong with the shoes, the field,...something. We enlist Dohn to go investigative reporter and get to the bottom of this. Maiava is a short and LARGE dude with a low center of gravity and even his ankles are getting chewed up. WHAT THE HELL!!!!!!!!!!!
Way too many lower leg and foot injurys are happening here and Dohn is the man to get to the bottom of it.
My offer still stands. We can also pad the walls inside the locker room for the young lads, and a pre-practice taping of one or two layers of bubble wrap may be helpful as well - these would not add any weight to the player do it won't slow him down. I would also suggest additional styrofoam inserts inside every player's helmet, plus sturdy padded benches on the sidelines for the players who seemingly can not avoid injuring themselves. On top of this, I might suggest a horse shoe be nailed up near the football office entry way, and all coaches should be required to carry a lucky rabbit's foot with them at all times.
My hope is that this epidemic is not contagious so that the rest of the student body does not suffer severe foot or leg injuries just going to and from classes every day.
