Jrue Holiday update

| | Comments (8) |

I talked to Shawn Holiday, the father of UCLA freshman guard Jrue Holiday, this morning and he said no decision has been made as to whether he will enter the NBA draft.
"No, it has not been made,'' Shawn said. "Nothing yet.''
Shawn said an appointment has not yet been made to meet with Holiday and his family.
"We haven't really discussed it much,'' Shawn said. "We took last week off to chill. We're supposed to schedule an appointment with (Howland) later this week.''

Holiday to Put Name in NBA Draft

By Tracy Pierson

Date: Mar 31, 2009

A number of sources are indicating that UCLA freshman guard Jrue Holiday and his parents will meet with UCLA Head Coach Ben Howland today, to tell him that Holiday will submit his name into this spring's NBA Draft and "test the waters"...

No surprise here, but I think Jrue really does want to leave if he can be gauranteed of being a top 20 pick. Beyond that, it's too easy to slide out of the 1st round. Much will depend on what Lawson, Evans, DeRozan and all the other underclassment decide to do.

Is Jrue in class this week or is it spring break?

The spring quarter began yesterday, I would assume he is enrolled in classes to keep his options open

the kind of mentality we're attracting is..."im going to be one-and-done if at all possible, i should go to one of the L.A. schools for exposure..."

Come back Jrue, play the point, lead us to the NCAA's, and leave as a lottery pick next year.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
