"War strategies"

| | Comments (21) |

I was talking to UCLA football coach Rick Neuheisel last week about recruiting, and what it is like being in Los Angeles. He said one adjustment is always knowing coaches from other staffs are in the area,
"You're in a house, and another staff comes in right behind you and they say they slammed you,'' Neuheisel said. "War strategies could be plotted off of this; where your army is, how you're moving your troops. It's really kind of fascinating.''

Sound's like Petey's poodle, Kenny Norton would be a great example of this. Would love to hear why Kenny Norton chose to play at UCLA instead of SUC.

As a student of the Art of War, I am happy to see that Coach Neuheisal is thinking in terms of warlike strategies. He will prove very successful by following the tenets of Sun Tzu.

One tenet to remember is that to fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting. Tsun Tsu Chapter III.

Anything like how Norm Chow slammed USC to Te'o or more like Neuheisel told everyone who would listen that Pete Carroll had one foot out the door and would abandon them before they moved into their dorm rooms?

C'mon, don't be naive - it happens everywhere. Whether it's Neuheisel telling a kid he won't start across town or Norton saying Westside kids won't go in the first round.

Let's take a poll, both the Bruins and Trojans reading.

Who thinks their program doesn't trash talk other schools?

Dear Sam,

I'll admit that Neuheisel probably tells recruits that Carroll will turn on them if they ever disagree with Petey and choose to do what they think is best for them and their families. Oh wait, recruits saw that for themselves live on ESPN.

Reggie, I still love you man, come back.

Sam, can you provide any reliable information that Norm Chow slammed SUC to Teo? I don't see anything wrong with Chow telling people that he was okay with Te'o not going to UCLA as long as it isn't SUC.

LAWYER JOHN, nice post as usual.

Slick Rick says he's found a way of bypassing this awkwardness by having recruits meet him at Santa Anita or the Commerce Casino, also known as the "field office."

Bruin Corpse-Seller:

Another base-less comment from a trOJie. Trojans that make intelligent posts, such as LAWYER JOHN, are welcomed much more here.

You gotta love the SUC fans spending more time talking about the Bruins that their own team. Neu is only 1 season in and they are already worried. The end is near SUC and its going to be a beautiful thing watching you implode.

@TruBruin.
That is the truth. And fans such as LAWYER JOHN will be welcome with open arms to the UCLA bandwagon. :P

I like Neuheisel's approach to football in general and with SUC specifically. We're in good hands and Petey's worried (as is evident by Carroll's allegations and foolhardy behavior as of the last couple of months).

Not sure what's lamer, Corpse-seller's handle or his constant recycling of the CRN gambling "joke" - time for some fresh material.

Before too many of you embrace LAWYER JOHN as a "good" Trojan because he is respectful over here, just know that he also posts on Wolf's blog and bags on you there. He's playing both sides.

Exactly uscfd. Here's an example of a Lawyer John post on Wolf's blog. This one is from Monday, wherein, inter alia, he calls Dohn a "Facist" (sic):

LAWYER JOHN said:
You all know me. I seldom make comments about posters, even if they insult me.

But let me give you a little insight about this silverlake-bruin. I posted on UGLA's brown-nosing Dohn's site for most of 2008. And this woman, middle-aged, physically ugly humanoid always had some nasty comment about me despite the fact that my comments were pretty much neutral (otherwise Facist Dohn would have booted me off his stupid blog long before he did).

But this jerk of all jerks, the physically ugly silverlake-bruin should take a long look at herself in the mirror every day. God, why am I so ugly?

Geez, how many times a week do we need to clear this up? Including Only the Truth, there are a number of Lawyer John posters out there. Both sides of the fence get antagonized.
My personal favorite is the guy who throws up softballs for his fellow Bruins to knock out of the park.

Watty, you need to lighten up a bit.
Neuheisel jokes have been floating around the city for less than 15 months, your fellow Bruins have been working the same OJ Simpson "TrOJans" capitalization jokes since they saw the Stanford Band spell it out on the Coliseum field fifteen years ago.

But hey, for old times' sake:

What's the first thing OJ Simpson said after he was found innocent?

Give me my jacket and hat, I'm outta here.

Heh, Actually, I still kinda like that one.

Can I lighten up and still think that bruin-corpse guy is a clown?

osezno,

I know it's been awhile since the trOJan jokes were relevant but I believe it's:

"give me my gloves and beanie, I'm outta here"

RodneyGulliory,
I apologize on behalf of osezno for ruining your OJ reference.

Awesomest TrOJan joke from back in the Kato Kaelin day:

Why did the LAPD issue an arrest warrant for John Elway? They were looking for a slow white Bronco.

Yeah baybee! Go Bruins! November 28, 2009: UCLA 34 USC 16

Hey Pete maybe the Chargers need a defensive coordinator? Coach Rick is here to stay, and he has come to play! In your face TrOJans! The dynasty is over!

Da Bruins gonna ruins yo season. And now you're gonna have either a high schooler or a journeyman bench rider starting at QB. Traveler ain't gonna get as much exercise as usual this year! LA is officially Bruin Country! University of Spoiled Children, enjoy the 2009 Champs Sports Bowl!
