Loss fallout

| | Comments (10) |

The message from UCLA coach Ben Howland and the Bruins after the loss to Washington State (it was Wazzu's second win in 53 games at UCLA) was UCLA needs to learn how to play with urgency and not blow so many defensive assignments.
Also, Bruins coach Ben Howland said he played Malcolm Lee ahead of Jrue Holiday in the second half because Lee was playing better defense.
And, Holiday said it was the right move.

In all my years of athletics I have never once thought that my team was better off with me on the bench.

What did Lee foul out in like 8 minutes of action? Shipp misses two uncontested lay-ups, the later resulting in a five point swing. Dragovic nonchalants a fast break pass for a sure lay-up and drops it out of bounds. Bruins don't try until the last three minutes. They let some short slow guy scorch them for like 33 points. Here's an idea...guard him. It's all a bunch of garbage. Bruins aren't that good, that's all. And please Bruins don't give me the "wake-up call" line. That is getting old. Just go out there and try hard the whole game and stop taking plays off.

Barney: Rochestie is a slow guy? Wow, you must be insanely quick to say that. Oh, wait, I forgot...you never played anything other than the occasional pickup game in your chubby three-years-younger-than-you neighbor's driveway. BTW, sorry you only made your layup at halftime today, though we all got a big laugh watching you.

Michael Roll should be a starter. J'Mison Morgan must be sooooooo pissed he came to UCLA. Where are his minutes?

I keep waiting for Bobo to make an appearance. He hasn't been around at all for the last few games, or so it seems. Yet every time he's out there, he draws a foul, or makes a nice bucket under the glass. Don't know why CBH doesn't give him some PT...

Let me reiterate...S-L-O-W. And if he's a good shooter when he's standing all alone, don't leave him alone. Embarrassing. 33 points by a guy with a career average of 9. Made him look like Adrian Dantley or Fennis Denbo out there.

One lousy point scored by Holiday? Seriously, WTF? Dohn talks about his court vision, passing, innate feel for the game, etc. Whatever. We need some dang friggin' offense from him--NOW! I'm sorry, but he has been a complete disappointment to me. On a somewhat funny note, I ran into Jerime Anderson after the game and blatantly lied when I told him "good game." Yeah...NOT! Man, I hope it's all just freshman growing pains.

Just two words for Holiday: Over-rated!

The other paper in town says Holiday saw no problem with his own defense which would run counter to the idea that it was the right move to put Lee in. Lee's 5 fouls in 16 minutes seems out of control.

Spelling out the word slow in caps with hyphens doesn't add anything to your stupid point that Rochestie is slow. If he wasn't white, you wouldn't even make that observation. He went around Collison all day long like Darren was nailed to the floor. He looked like Adrian Dantley? What an idiotic comparison. Go back in your cave, Barney. Maybe Betty will listen to your stupid rants.
