Getting to know ...
Before I get to the Q&A with Alfred Aboya, I am waiting to hear back from the company whose chat program I use to get a transcript of the chat from today. I'm hopeful that will happen, but it may have to wait until tomorrow. I will post it as soon as I get it.
Now, here is this week's light-hitting Q&A with UCLA senior center Alfred Aboya. Oh, and it should be noted, he is from Yaounde, Cameroon.
1. What did you do in the offseason to get better offensively and defensively?
Work out a lot. It was all basketball-related. Shooting, dribbling and playing a lot of ball. I was on the national team, so we did a lot.
2. When you are president of Cameroon, what UCLA teammate (current or former) will be your vice president?
(lots of laughing). I don't see anybody. Man, I don't know. In Cameroon, we don't have a running mate. We have a president and then a prime minister. But then I have to say Luc (Richard Mbah a Moute) because everybody else in ineligible to be it. You have to be from the country.
3. Who on this team could make the American Idol top 12?
I think I might make it. Oh, man, I'm a talented singer. I sing in French, but singing is singing. Don't you think so?
4.Most memorable L.A. experience?
I would say winning the Pac-10 at Staples Center. We've done that (twice) and it doesn't get old.
5. Favorite delicacy that you could not get in L.A.
A lot, like cats, squirrels. You can't have that. You can just see them walking around but you can't eat them. It is true. The (squirrels) on campus are fat. The one that we eat just live in the jungle, in the forest.
6. Favorite eatery in Westwood?
Man, there's a lot. I would probably say B.J's. I eat the pizza there, sandwiches.
7. Are you as famous in Cameroon as in Westwood?
Cameroon is a big country. Westwood is a small place. I can't measure that right now.
8. Role model?
My father. Nobody else. Maybe my parents, because of the way they educated me, the way they taught me about life.
9. Most uninformed question you've gotten about Cameroon?
Where it's located. A lot of people don't know where it's located. They are like, 'Oh, is that an island.' No, it's in Africa.

hes funny. and hes awesome! keep taking those awesome pills alfred!
AWESOME!!!.. Cats and squirrels.. hahahahahahahahha..
no joke man, the squirrels on campus are pretty fat.
The squirrels may be fat, but are they still green?
EW! Ladies, hide your kitties!
When do we get the audio of the singing???
The squirrels on campus are fat because they have absolutely no fear in taking food right off of the table you are sitting at.
Man my 6 year old son loves you, Alfred, esp. after you took that hit to the face against Yale couple of years ago (we were there) and wore goggles for a bunch of games. Great effort yesterday, keep pounding!!
I used to feed the squirrels.
What's wrong with eating cats and squirrels? Us Americans eat some unusual things too. Does anyone even know what a hotdog is?
Cats and squirrels are just cute and cuddly.
neither are cute and cuddly. That must be dogs you're thinking of. If they tasted good, I would eat cats and squirrels too cause I hate them as animals
Great article on the four letter about UCLA's war room yesterday. Very interesting.

i know what a hot dog is, and they are DE-LICIOUS!
Cameroon is a country in Africa? I thought Africa was its own country. Boy am I confused.
- Gov. Palin
"But you already know."
GREAT ARTICLE pr! Thanks!
Alfred, You are my hero, you truly are, but...
please stay away from my kitties.
Squirrels are really just rats with furry tails. Don't know why they get a free pass from us humans.
Cameroon also has a very decent Futbol team.
I wonder what is the best way to prepare a cat/squirrel meal:
1. Stir fry
2. Sweet and sour
3. Deep fried
4. Barbequed
5. Battered then deep fried
6. Boiled
7. Stuffed then roasted
8. Raw - sushi style
Inquiring minds want to know!
Squirrels are rodents that just happen to be born cute. And tasty.
I think rats and mice are cute too (when they are pets).
So if cats and squirrels are two items not available in LA, does that mean dog is available? And dogs are much tastier than cats.
hahahahahahaha...Zimmern..hahahah
I take the train to Cameroon everyday. It's for my 3 letter occupation, jobs
Got to Squirrel Recipes to find out to cook squirrel.
There's even a recipe for Squirrel Alfredo.
