McClure staying
Recruiting coordinator Angus McClure is staying at UCLA rather than join former defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker's staff at New Mexico State. The decision came after McClure and Bruins coach Rick Neuheisel met.
McClure came to UCLA as a member of Karl Dorrell's staff, and McClure wants to get back on the field and coach. That is what will happen, according to the plan put forth.
According to sources, McClure will remain in his roll as UCLA's recruiting coordinator, and will add on-field coaching duties in either 2009 or 2010. That depends when UCLA has an opening that tailors to McClure's expertise.
McClure's background includes coaching the offensive line and also the tight ends. He also has coached aspects of special teams.

Brian,
What is your view of Angus? Is he a good recruiting coordinator or a great one? Would Neuheisel sacrifice some experience in an on-the-field coach to keep him as the recruiting coordinator?
Thanks!
I have interacted with Angus many times. I can honestly say he is one of the hardest and most personable people you will meet. He is great at scouting at talent, but also great at putting people at ease and communicating.
I, too, have interacted many times with Angus. My favorite is barbeque Angus burgers on warm summer nights. Angus certainly does put people at ease - try it with some potato salad and cold beer.
I am glad Coach McClure is staying , recruiting is the lifes blood of every program , and continuety is so important .
I like Troy too (not the u$c version). Tell me somebody at least got this joke.
Hi, I'm Troy McClure. You may remember me from such self help tapes as 'Smoke yourself thin' and 'Get some confidence, I just want to remind you that you can't spell SUCk without USC!
...you may remember me from such television spinoffs such as Son of Sanford and Son and After Mannix.
I caught the Troy reference.
Thank you... thank you... :o)
