Football staff update

| | Comments (16) |

One thing I keep hearing is that before UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel announces the defensive coordinator, he wants the whole defensive staff in place. But for that to happen, I'm being told he is trying to get more money for some of the assistant coaches.
Also, I keep hearing things are going well for former Bruin and NFL all-pro Carnell Lake to join the staff.
(And, yes, I continue to hear linebackers coach Chuck Bullough is the leading candidate to be the defensive coordinator.)

Tight!

Thanks for the update

Just give the DC job to Chuck already.

Looks like VB was wrong about Kenny Norton, USC's highest paid cheerleader.

Hope Carnell Lake joins the staff.

Thanks for the update Brian!! We are anxiously waiting to hear whose defense is going to get spanked by USC. Yeah, yeah, I know 13 - 9 and University of South Central. Please be more creative.

Heres a hai ku to celebrate our new coaches who would never embarass themselves like Petey did at Sanchez's presser:

Pete chirps in Marks ear
Mark gives pete dirty sanchez
Pete acts like a bitch

SuC Fans - stay off our board or I will report you to your parole officer. The only reason Petey was at the inauguration was to secure future pardons for his players. Props to Rick for being Rick.

Best Haiku ever. I'm glad I caught it before Dohn sees it and removes it.

U clowns lose again, now that is incredibly creative. Just another moronic trojan. see that overpriced education has worked out well for you. damn you are creative.

Brian - wouldn't a new defensive coordinator want to name his OWN staff? What you're writing seems to go against the accepted way of filling a coaching staff. If I was the new defensive coordinator, I know that I would want to hire the people who would be working for me - not inherit an already-name staff.

What is the theory here behind what you've written?

I'm thinking a DC with a proven track record gets to name his own staff.

Sir Miguelito, let me just take this opportunity to say in a few short words that I admire your work on Wolf's blog. Kudos on a great body of work. Cheers!

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
