Walker's future

UCLA defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker spoke with New Mexico State for a second time this weekend about the school's vacant head coaching position, according to sources.
Walker has not had a face-to-face meeting about becoming coach of the Aggies, but remains interested in learning more about the position, sources added.
Walker still has another year left on his contract at UCLA, but is interested in a head coaching position.
He became a well-known future head coaching candidate after turning around UCLA's once-poor performing defense. He served as the Bruins' interim coach in the 2007 Las Vegas Bowl loss to BYU, and was a finalist for the San Diego State job but finished second.
Sources also said LSU representatives reached out to Walker about becoming the Tigers defensive coordinator, but no official contact with the school has taken place.
