Sunday night tidbits

UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel spoke with the media today, and his message was simple -- the Bruins have loads of work to do, both players and coaches, and those not willing to put forth the effort need to move on.
He will go to New York for Troy Aikman's induction into the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame, then hit the road recruiting. And from what I'm hearing, one of his visits soon will be to Idaho, to visit TE/DE Billy Sanders, a Miami commit who is looking hard at UCLA.

I think it is very cool that Neu is going to Troy Aikman's ceremony. I hope there is an increase in alumni involvement in the program.

Will Karl Dorrell be at the ceremony?

Did Aikman and Neuheisel ever work together?

Yes. Neuheisel was a grad assistant and then his quarterbacks coach at UCLA.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
