No NMSU?

Sources told me today UCLA defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker doesn't plan on pursuing the head coaching position at New Mexico State, but will likely speak with the administration one more time before making an announcement about it.
He spoke with NMSU's administration earlier this month about the spot, but no interview took place.

Does this mean that Walker is likely to stay at UCLA? A couple weeks ago you put the odds at 5-1. Can we get an update on the odds?

No offense to Dohn, but he also predicted 9-1 or something that Collison would be gone this year.

Lesson to be learned... Don't take Dohn to Vegas.

Poor Walker. He'll have to get by on his measly $375,000 per year salary for another year at UCLA. How will he make ends meet? Well, at least gas prices are lower. That should help.

Yeah 375K but golden boy Sarkisian is getting around 2 mil! Wow, Washington is going to regret that one. He was working for a software company till Norm Chow convinced him to get into coaching. Now he is making more than Norm Chow ever has per season. That is RETARDED. With the talent over there Sark should have had them putting up over 45 points a game. Bottom line.
No worries, Dwalk will have the number one Defense in the pac 10 next year!!! Then Arizona will open up...

WEAK! at least get the format right if you're gonna give VB a hard time

PS: this is the best thing for Walker and our program, he'll get a better opportunity than NMSU

I don't think anyone ever considered NMSU to be a sexy program, so I don't see how this is a big surprise.

Let Terry Bowden have it. It's been too long since his drunken photos and I'm bored...

Makes sense to me. Walker already rejected Utah State and would put NMSU on par with them.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
