Carroll and UCLA

From what I hear, UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel was a busy person Wednesday. Not only was he at the home of Morrell Presley, the former USC commit and tight end from Carson High who committed to UCLA last night, but he was also set to visit with L.A. Cathedral receiver Randall Carroll.
Carroll, who committed to USC in September, is looking at other schools and my understanding is UCLA really wants his speed.

First Morrell Pressley, now possibly Randall Carroll and Devon Fluornoy?

OH GOOD LAWD

Brian, do you know if the meeting actually did take place?

Brian what are the odds we can turn Carroll? Isn't he Franklin's cousin?

It would be incredible to snag these two additional SUC commits, but I don't want to get my hopes up. What I love is the fact that CRN is taking it to cheaty peaty. First Presley...now? Maybe, even commit Joel Gray from Texas Tech(OL)? Billy Sanders(TE), Miami commit? Dan Ertz(TE), Stanford commit? The possibilities.

No, no, no!! We should not go after the best players once they are a committed to another school!

Carroll's speed would add a much-needed facet to our offense (and return game). We needs his speed to stretch the field and create big plays. He would be ideal on the reverse, quick hitches, etc.

Poaching USC's commits right now is the smart move by Neuheisel.

Pete Carroll has been focusing on rearranging his coaching staff.

Plus Neuheisel can use the fact that wide receiver Vidal Hazelton transfered from USC due to lack of playing time as an angle.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
