Big recruiting weekend

| | Comments (8) |

UCLA will host its biggest weekend of the recruiting season Jan. 9-11. On hand will be many of the players who already gave non-binding oral commitments to UCLA, but a handful of other players (most of whom are committed elsewhere) are also scheduled to come.
In talking to a few sources, I was told these players are also expected:
TE Zach Ertz of Danville Monte Vista (Stanford commit)
DE Devon Kennard of Phoenix Desert Vista
CB Marlon Pollard of San Bernardino Cajon (Notre Dame commit)
DE Iuta Tepa of Long Beach Poly (Hawaii commit)
LB Marquis Simmons of Compton Dominguez (USC commit)
TE/DE Billy Sanders of Coeur d'Alene Lake City (Miami commit)
*Keep in mind recruiting is fluid, and things can change between now and Jan. 9 I also am hearing several other players could visit.

Brian, are you SURE about Kennard? He was quoted as saying he isn't even considering us, and is focused on USC, Cal, and Texas.

That's why I think LB Marquis Simmons of Compton Dominguez (USC commit) will be there. I don't trust any Simmons brother. He's there just to make sure Kennard goes to $c.

Brian,

Without naming names, does the staff expect any commitments out of this weekend??

Also, who pays the travel expenses for this trip?

Re: "Keep in mind recruiting is fluid" ...

Pretty much EVERYTHING is fluid today, from San Diego to Bakersfield! Lots of rain and there's plenty of snow in the mountains!

I would LOVE to see a SUC commit change to UCLA and do so publicly. It would really be a sign of how things are changing with CRN.

Hopefully Marquis Simmons doesn't end up like his brother. A usc commit who ends up getting sentance to 8yrs in prison for robbery....

Not to deflate any balloons, but I have read on the Internets a lot of documentation that says that Marquis Simmons is the best football player out of all the Marquis brothers.

Too bad the brother in jail did not have better legal eagles defending him. He should have plead out a deal to run extra laps as penance, but he was too arrogant and dumb to commit the crime. Do the crime, do the time.
