More Allmond
I talked Bloomington High of Fontana fullback Jayson Allmond earlier tonight about his commitment to UCLA, and asked him why he jumped at the Bruins' offer and made a decision.
"It's getting to the end of my senior season and I talked to a lot of schools, and narrowed it down to three schools, Nevada, UCLA and Fresno State,'' Allmond said. "What got me with UCLA is they made me feel real comfortable when I came to their games, and made me feel like I was part of the family and I wasn't even part of the team yet."

Are the Bruins hitting the IE hard or what? Would like to see an offer or two extended to the Tesoro linemen though. Why not make some early inroads before we start reading about how these kids in OC never were even visited by UCLA coaches.
we can play some football out here in the IE...... There are alot of quality kids this year. Allmond should just keep it real and say that UCLA was the biggest of the 3 he narrowed it down to!
Uhhhhh.... yeah... I would hope that you would choose UCLA over Fresno State and Nevada.
"Pac10 school.... or mid-major wannabe ... Pac10 school ... mid-maj- ... I think I'll go to UCLA."
pffffff
People are always talking about how we need to recruit the "inner city". I agree, but the "inner city" kids are moving to the IE in droves, my family included. The IE is the present and future of recruiting So Cal.
IE? I'm just looking for some H2O
6', 250 lbs?? Wow, this guy is a bruiser! He'll probably grow another inch or two, as well. Nothing better than a fullback that can lay down a pancake block...
While I don't agree with VB's tone, I do agree with his message.
According to scout.com he's 6ft 257lbs. UCLA, Fresno State, and Nevada are the only ones after him? Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to go up against him, but I'm just wondering why other major schools weren't knocking on his door?
Bloomington High is in Bloomington...not Fontana.
The reason I think a lot of other schools weren't giving him looks was the system he was in. Currently with their new head coach, Bloomington runs the spread, the I, and some splitback jet series.
During his junior and sophmore seasons, they were running the double wing. Last year he was used as a tight end and his sophmore year we was the fullback.
Bloomington is listing Jayson at 6'1/2", 248 pounds. He runs a legit 4.6 forty. A true north south runner, but a better blocker with great hands. From what I was told, he was benching around 375 towards the end of his junior season.
