Here is the sixth grouping:

With the recent visits by Lamb, Honeycutt and Scott (I think), what is the vibe on the likelihood of landing the other 2 guys?
What?

After the 1st half, everything seemed to click for Kevin Craft. Are you now seeing a more improved Craft in practices now or does he look the way he always did in practices?
He was a little better in practice this week, but one of the reasons he had so much success against Tennessee is the way the Vols played defense, and how UCLA approached the passing game in the second half. The Vols blitzed only a few times, and often played off the receivers.

How would you rank the top 3 conferences in CFB, and do you believe there is an East Coast bias (even slightly)?
SEC, Big 12, Pac-10. And, having lived on the East coast for nearly 30 years, indeed there is an East Coast bias, based largely on the fact night games don't end until midnight or 1 a.m. there. Even the Tennessee-UCLA game ended after 11 p.m., which, to me, explains why UCLA jumped into the top 25 this week.

How does the returning players for the bball team look so far? How do you expect to be impact players this season? Will anyone breakout a la Westbrook?
I haven't seen enough of the returning players in the men's gym to make any kind of declaration. The impact players, in my opinion, will be Darren Collison and Jrue Holiday. As for a Westbrook type of breakout, I don't see that happening. Westbrook went from ambiguity and 10 minutes a game to a top 5 NBA draft pick in one year.

Given the interest in football and basketball recruits, could you please provide a complete list of all the recruits who attend the football games? Additionally, could you possibly point out why specific players/recruits who have committed to schools other than UCLA would be on a (official/unofficial?) visit to UCLA?
I did provide a list of the recruits earlier. As for why each committed player attends a game, I don't see that happening. Sometimes they want to see a potentially good game, other times they have friends on the team, and it may be the coaches are nagging them to come check it out, so they do. And, in some cases, guys may be looking for a fallback school, or could be changing their minds.

Since you know both programs well, who would win a matchup between UCLA-Rutgers on a neutral field?
I think we all know the answer to this one, so why open a can of worms.

do you follow a Rutgers blog as religiously as some of us UCLA fans follow yours?
I do not, mostly because, as a fan, I do not get the type of information I want on the Rutgers blogs that I look at occasionally. In fact, there is very little information on the blogs that I would not find in a story.

do you think that UCLA needs to find a more efficient system in getting the play in? I do not think its a smart idea to have Craft running back and forth from the sideline to the huddle.
Well, there were no delay of games penalties, very little confusion in what plays were called, and when the offense moved the ball in the second half, the rhythm seemed fine. In other words, I'm not about to second-guess Norm Chow after one game.

Please update us on Jeff Miller. Will he ever see the playing field? He was recruited as a DE, moved to DT, and now moved again to TE. Was he in Walker's doghouse or did he just not develop into a DE?
He is the third string tight end, and I would think he will get in a game in the very near future. His specialty is as a blocker.

Which backup QB is getting the most reps this week?
Kevin Prince is getting more reps, but at the end of practice it is Chris Forcier running with the second team offense.

Did you see Rutgers play this weekend at home? Ugly.

Sorry to say it, but Schiano is a fraud.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
