Bell notes

UCLA running back Kahlil Bell brought an optimistic attitude to a media session today, stating "anything less than a Pac-10 championship ...that's what our goal would be."
On UCLA's coaching staff, Bell said "We've got the best coaches in the nation."
Bell also said he consulted with doctors and will wear his knee brace all season, but was not experiencing any pain or discomfort with his knee. "The only thing I feel is the knee brace on the knee,'' he said.

Hi Brian, please tell me you missed some words in that quote:
"anything less than a Pac-10 championship, that's what our goal would be."

If that is correct it is not optimistic at all...

Any kid who is good enough to play at a major college was all-world in high school, and thus will not lack for confidence.

It is the beginning of a new season, there is a 110-team tie for first place in the nation with all the schools having the same record. So who knows how all of this will play out?

But we will soon know because all the "talk" is about to terminate and the "walk" shall soon commence.

I always appreciate your thoughts, TRUTH, you keep us rooted in reality on this blog.

I have to agree with Anon's thoughts as well. I am hoping that is a misquote, but I have confidence in Mr. Dohn that what he provides us is accurate, that's why I come here for my Bruin info. I also believe the intent of Mr. Bell was, "[Nothing] less than a Pac-10 championship..."

Thanks for your effort here Brian, it is evident & appreciated. Your weekly Q&A is becoming a herculean effort, I hope you are able to keep doing it well into the future.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
