Here is the fifth set:

Do you see UCLA offering Chris Coyle from Oaks Christian?I do not know, but I will check into it.

Do you think Aaron Hester will be starting the UT game on Sept 1?I do not, but by October I think he will be getting most of the snaps opposite Alterraun Verner at cornerback.

Do you think Jonathan Franklin is a for sure redshirt this year or do you see him getting involved in the return game on special teams? It's no secret UCLA could use his speed. That's a good question. My gut tells me a red-shirt, but I think they will give him a good look in training camp in the return game.

It appears that all three incoming wideouts could be playing this year a lot. Do you get that same sense with the coaching staff? That has long been the sense, but Jerry Johnson could red-shirt. However, I expect Moutra and Rosario to play a lot.

Do you see Chris Forcier having an impact this year or is he going to ride the bench all year again? What is Chow's take on him?I do not see him playing unless UCLA suffers multiple injuries at the quarterback spot. In talking to folks around the program, Forcier's best position may not be quarterback. As for Chow, I haven't spoken to him much about Forcier.

There was some scuttlebutt on a Bruin Talk program last week that Kevin Love was in an altercation with some football players in a Westwood restaurant recently. Any idea what that was about??This is the first I heard about it, but I will check into it.

why would Coach Howland "de devastated" if Aboya chooses not to return to the team?Because it would seriously impact the depth at center, and because Howland really enjoys having Aboya on the team. He doesn't complain, he works extremely hard in practice and he is very tough.

are all or some of the b-ball and football recruits (for 08) on campus yet? I was told all the football recruits were on campus, and the only basketball recruit yet to arrive is Malcolm Lee. He is playing for the U-18 U.S. team, so he won't be on campus until late this month.

While you were gone, I looked over your colleague, Scott Wolf's, USC blog. I was wondering if you could consider following Wolf's lead, and virtually abandon coverage of UCLA athletics, and instead focus on something insipid and only tangentially related to sports, such as the selection of Song Girls? Perhaps you could devote literally hundreds of posts and answers to "The Deadliest Catch"? That surely relates to UCLA, as I understand a player or two has visited Alaska (though it isn't nearly as insipid). What do you think?I would love to do a Deadliest Catch blog. Man, the Captain Phil saga is gripping drama, and the After the Catch stuff is neat.

Any word on when we could expect UCLA to unveil any plans for the Pauley renovation project? Is there any chance the "quiet period" will be ending any time soon? The last I heard was the renovations were going to be unveiled in the fall when the quiet phase ends and the push for public money begins. I'll check on it and hopefully have an update next week.

I live in Texas, and I plan on attending 3 home games this year. I will be going to the Tennessee and USC games, but I can't decide which other game to see.
Which other home game would be the most interesting/enjoyable for you?
I'm interested in the Fresno State game, but if I was choosing to attend from out of state I'd look at Oregon. It's a great place to watch a game. If you wanted to come to the Rose Bowl, I'd check out Stanford. It would break the season up, and it is a game UCLA should win.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
