Ailing Edwards

One of UCLA's projected starting linebackers, Josh Edwards, is not taking part in 7-on-7 drills because his ankle is in a walking boot. I'm told he will be ready for training camp, but he is missing conditioning and workout time because of the injury.

The first game is about 7-weeks away. This kid is a physical specimen who knows how to get into shape. Methinks this is much ado over nothing.

Looks like there is a straining for interesting material. But to give one his do, it is the dog days of sports with not much to report.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
