Salary comparisons
In light of the all but Norm Chow's contract figures now available, I did some numbers comparison and found that UCLA is not spending significantly more on Rick Neuheisel's coaching staff compared to what was spent on Karl Dorrell's final staff.
Dorrell's last staff was guaranteed $1,620,000, and Neuheisel's staff is guaranteed $1,405,000, plus offensive coordinator Norm Chow's yet-to-be-released salary. Sources put Chow's salary between $300,000 and $350,000.
I think it is one of the best staffs around, but it will be interesting to see what happens in the cases of running backs coach Wayne Moses and special teams coach Frank Ganz Jr. Both are being paid $100,000, well under market value, because they are still being paid by their former NFL clubs this upcoming season.

This is really getting old. I don't mind staff changes if that person is moving on for a better job but it better not be because they are being under paid and not even close to market value as you stated.
I guess we will see after this next season.
Annoymous,
I don't think you understood what Dohn was saying. Part of the problem is that Dohn has really spelled out how much the NFL is subsidizing the UCLA assistant coaching staff salaries. We know that Chow is reportedly being paid $1MM for the next two years by the Titans -- what UCLA pays him just gets subtracted from what the Titans pay. The same is true for both Moses and Ganz but we haven't heard how much the NFL is paying those guys. I guess that the NFL (after deducting what UCLA pays) will be paying somewhere between $1.MM and $1.6MM to Chow, Moses and Ganz. That puts the UCLA assistant salaries (from both UCLA and the NFL) at somewhere between $2.4MM and $3MM. The big question is what is going to happen when the NFL subsidy ends? Do the Bruins go back to a below average salary base? Or, does Dan Guererro pull a rabbit out of his hat and come up with more $$$$ for the assistants.
How 'bout a bonus for Norm each time he creates a Heisman winner?
