Osaar's safety
UCLA approached backup quarterback Osaar Rasshan about switching to safety during the offseason, but he balked at it because of his desire to remain at quarterback. Rasshan said defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker talked with him, but Rasshan balked at the move because of his affinity for the quarterbacking position.
"Coach Walker ran it by me," Rasshan told the Daily News' Ramona Shelburne. "He was just looking out for me. But no defense, I like the ball. I want to play quarterback, and I'm going to stay at quarterback.''
Rasshan, who will be a red-shirt junior, was converted to a receiver last summer, but shifted back to quarterback because of injuries. He was 17 of 45 for 259 yards and two interceptions last season.
"In high school I played a little corner, a little safety,'' Rasshan said. "Last year, I went out to receiver to help the team, because we were kind of thin there, but this (quarterback) is what I am, and what I want.''

Osaar doesn't get it. His chances of playng QB are miniscule. Perhaps he doesn't want to play at another position.
This kid is never going to play football at this rate. I get that he would rather play quarterback than receiver or safety, but would he rather bench warm than play?
He was always a quarterback, and he loves the position, loves having the ball. He did have some shining moments last year. Besides, he might think he would never see the field anyway as a safety or split end.
But there was a time the game was not so specialized. Anybody recall when players went both ways on offense and defense?
Drew Bennett is still playing in the NFL as a receiver, not QB, while Cade McNown with all his talents didn't last long as a NFL QB.
Osaar needs to listen to his coaches, otherwise why is he here?
