PROFILE

This is Brian Dohn's fifth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.

Another Luc update

From UCLA:

UCLA junior forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute completed his first full practice with contact today since spraining his left ankle in the second half of the Arizona contest (Feb. 2).
"He looked good, his ankle was fine but he was a little winded," UCLA Head Coach Ben Howland said.
He is probable for the Bruins' game at USC on Sunday, Feb. 17.

Great news! Do or do not, there is no try.

Be safe, it is not worth getting hurt an then being set back another week.....

Quinn said:

I personally don't want to see Luc play this sunday. It looked like he tweaked his ankle pretty bad in the AZ game, and to think he's back playing bball in 2 weeks seems unrealistic to me. That being said I think he's probably our most important player outside love.

This is SC.

If Moute can walk he will get on the floor. For how long, however, is another question.

jdoggbruin said:

This is UCLA.

We measure our season on winning it all, not on one team.

ONLYTHETRUTH said:

This is the biggest game of the year for the Bruins, the pressure is on them.

They will kill themselves if they are swept by undermanned USC.

BruinLuv said:

The pressure is definitely on both teams tomorrow. They both had ugly losses last weekend and no one wants 2 losses in a row. However, I think it's a much bigger game for sc. They would get to brag about sweeping one of the top teams in the nation.
sc made a great run in the tournament last year. I hope you guys can get there again.

GO BRUINS!

I believe the pressure is on SC to try to make it to the tourny. UCLA is in. those are the biggest games of the year.

Can you handle the Truth?

The biggest game of any year for the Bruins is the NCAA Finals

The goal of the regular season is to get the best possible NCAA seeding

Read some of John Wooden's books, you might learn some things, and even become a Bruin fan

As everyone should.

A win is a win, I could not take another couple of weeks that "we" all have taken from "some" SC fans.

Our biggest game of the year will be in early April.

How about a shout-out to BruinLuv, sweet comments.

And of course the tournament games are the most important; this SC-UCLA game is simply the most important in the Pac-10 for both schools because of the rivalry.

I did not care about the UCLA losses last year, I practically cried when SC was denied an Elite-8 by a great comeback from North Carolina; likewise the disappointment the Bruins had with Florida.

Bruin Billy said:

There's no doubt about it: The Pac-10 is a beast this year. And unlike past years, the National Press hasn't been so quick to kick our schools to the curb for intra-conference losses.

My only hope is that if we can place 7-8 teams into the tourney, we see some deep runs. No reason why UCLA, USC, WAZZU and Stanford shouldn't make it to the Sweet 16. ASU and Oregon could be in that "9-10-11-12" seed range that produces the proverbial sleeper and surprises everyone.

Should be a great tourney this year.
