PROFILE

This is Brian Dohn's fifth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.

Clausen update

Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis said during a conference call this morning that QB Jimmy Clausen would practice. However, he stopped short of saying Clausen would be healthy enough to play against UCLA. Clausen injured his hip last week against Purdue.
"He's supposed to be set and ready to go,'' Weis said. "I have to see that. Some guys are set and ready to go, and they don't play for another two weeks. Other guys are set and ready to go, and they're ready to go that day. I'm going to have to see how it goes visually on the field."

This week the enemy of my enemy is my friend. That's you guys. So good luck this Saturday and administer such a beat-down that ND commits Crist, McDonald and Fauria decommit. Do your part in assuring that Mr. Double-Butt pulls a Willingham (gets fired in year three). Fight on!
