PROFILE

This is Brian Dohn's fifth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.

More Price

Recently NCAA-cleared UCLA DT Brian Price said he never gave consideration to red-shirting, even though he missed the first three games of the season.
"I'm on a mission to be the best," Price said. "The road to success is not always straight, but I'm happy to be back. I'll shoot for the moon, and if I miss, I'll land among the stars. I'm just happy to be back."
If a decision was not reached by next Monday, UCLA would have had to void Price's letter of intent, meaning Price could have gone anywhere in the country.
However, and this is consistent with what I was told by numerous sources during the process, Price said he would have re-taken the SATs or ACTs until he got the necessary score for him to go to UCLA.
"I'm a man of my word," Price said. "I would have re-taken the test. I've been saying I'm a Bruin since I've committed, and that wasn't going to change."

wow, this kid is awesome. i hope he has a monster game against UW.

yeah, this kid is awesome. committed, ambitious, and a person with integrity. let's hope ucla can give the coaching and leadership he deserves.

Put this kid on the field and let him work out the kinks, now.

Love the comments and attitude with Brian, and don't see any reason why he won't carry that onto the field. We need 22 guys like Price on every snap.

Does he have any siblings? Offer them, now.

His integrity and loyalty was shown long before that. If I remember correctly, SC tried recruiting him by sending a limo to pick him up, but he refused b/c he already committed to UCLA.

On another note, shouldn't the saying be "I'll shoot for the stars, and if I fall short, at least I'd be at the moon." I'm no astronomer, but I'm certain the stars lay beyond the moon. No worries Brian, I have an 'inspirational' calendar as a gift that saids exactly what you've said.

bruinbry, you answered your own question. since the stars lay beyond the moon as you say, then he would have to first go for the moon no?

Wow - great guy!

There is a lot that the guys who quit in the Utah game can learn from this guy. Dorrell better start playing the guys who TAKE-NO-PRISONERS instead of the guys who like to read their press clippings.
