PROFILE

This is Brian Dohn's fifth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.

Fixing the problem

UCLA SS Chris Horton said the defensive problems experienced at Utah can be fixed quickly.
"It was mental mistakes," Horton said. "And If it was scheme things, it's definitely something that can get fixed. But the majority of it came from guys just having no focus at all."

Lack of preparation. And based on Horton and Davis' remarks, my money is now on CKD can't run practice/evaluate a week of practice to know when its good or bad.

Question: How much would it be to buy out Dorrel's contract if he were dismissed this year? And secondly, is there a general buyout fund that we alums can contribute to?

That's comforting. It was just a lack of focus. Hmmm, wonder why they didn't think about that when Utah's JV was kicking their butts.

Lack of focus. Hmmm...I'm beginning to wonder if that's just a cop-out. Something 22 year olds say when they don't want to or can't admit that they were soundly beaten.

You'd think that after all of the games we've lost due to "lack of focus", that our experienced, senior-laden team would find their focus. They need to focus every fricking game. The staff is supposed to help.
