Breaking News: University calls Charter Oak
I don't know if it's the power of the blogs, but Charter Oak coach Lou Farrar called to say that L.A. City Section's University High School contacted him this afternoon and the two have agreed to meet at University on Friday, Sept. 11 for an afternoon affair in Los Angeles. University was 1-9 this past season, but is hoping to turn things around under a new coach. Just a year earlier University advanced to the City Section III-A championship at the Coliseum, losing to Garfield 28-23 in the 2007 final. "I have to get clearance from our administrators but it should be a done deal," Chargers coach Lou Farrar said. "They had a tough season because they graduated so many seniors, but they have a new coach and a lot of players back. I'm just glad we have an opponent and we can concentrate on football now."

Talking about upgrading your Strenght of Schedule here, you really shot yourself in the foot now Lou!
You might as well have scheduled Ganesha or Keppel.

CO Bro-if you scroll down and read - the BA fans are not bringing up the blowouts of your DVI team until some blowhard imagines that the result would be any different next time around. this is usually the case, so I know we "get it". since you're a "real" CO fan-spend more time to educating the "un-real" CO fans of the difference between DI and DVI instead of worrying about the BA fans actual understanding of reality.

I got to admit it, I'm not too pleased with this Uni game. Lou & Stycula need to step up and play some bigger teams! There goes strength of schedule out the window!
For all you BA fans who keep bringing up our games a few years ago. . . WE GET IT! You beat a Division VI team like you are supposed to do. Move on. Some of us true CO fans get it!

sgvfootballfan-is that the almighty Miramonte that had 0-10 Wilson, 1-9 Los Altos (thank goodness for Wilson)? Or the Miramonte with Bonita - who didn't beat a team with a winning record all season? Maybe the Miramonte with a 7-7 Diamond Ranch that lost to that Bonita team?
Or is it the Miramonte that had Charter Oak-who didn't play a team that finished with a winning record until the final regular season game.
That Miramonte?
And we know what happened the last two times Charter Oak decided to play Amat. It would have been the exact same kind of disaster. The biggest disaster that year is after routing CO, Glendora, and Damien - the Lancers weren't prepared to play their league opener and dropped one to Bosco - like blowing out the SGV and not being ready for Loyola this year.
That kind of disaster?

Well Fred The Ring Ceremony was something Special. And you can feel it in the air about next years team wanting to defend the title. The Rings look real nice they have the Co in the The middle in charger blue with three diamonds on top and three on the bottom. says southeast champs around the ring with the state of california on the side and the players last name. and on the other side it has the state of california and are record. i like em! but univeristy lou? c'mon i was hoping for someone better than that. oh well it is what it is. outs.

To Curious who keeps trying to send the same vulgar message for weeks now, we know who you're through your verizon provider, we have about a 1,000 of your harassing messages saved in the system so just keep it up, you're not fooling anyone.

This isn't football but since some of these are football players I'll put it out there.
Ricky Johnson of WC was just under 14.9 in the 110 high hurdles and was in the 39's in the 300 hurdles vs Rowland. Charles Tucker won the 100 with a time in the low 11's, BJ Lee pulled a
muscle in the last leg of the boys 400 relay, when he's healthy he's been phenomenal in the 100.
First year senior runner Christina Borman won the girls 300 hurdles and was
was winning big in the 100
hurdles but stumbled and lost her stride, not sure if she was edged out at the finish line.

Sold out game that CO/University. BORING!!!
CO would you man up for once.
Amat was the logical choice and your administrator did not think it was a good idea at the time.???

You people literally probably have absolutely no idea what you are talking about like Charter Oak really wanted this game but how about maybe just maybe they were desperate to play anyone at this point and so late in the signing of games that they had to sign the only team left that was available. I doubt very highly Charter Oak is really avoiding playing anyone if they were willing to play Bishop Amat but the Lancers said no. Why would they try and play Tesoro after Bishop Amat said no a C.I.F. Pac-5 Runner up and you people are accusing of them of scheduling down again. Someone please tell me which teams in the Valley would play them if Bishop Amat and West Covina both said no. Look at their preseason schedule which insinuates they had to go find teams in different Valleys to play them. Your arguments just don't jive! I personally am upset too that Charter Oak doesn't play a marquee game but it is what it is.

You mean there wasn't one team from the San Gabriel Valley that didn't want to play CO?
I find that hard to believe?
Posted by: whatthe h@ll | April 2, 2009 6:45 PM
I know it was probably down to the wire for these guys here, but University?
Come on, I mean couldn’t they have found a better opponent than that?
Banning would have been an excellent game for Charter Oak, and to tell you the truth, maybe even a marquee game for them.
I suppose though that maybe those other guys didn’t want anything to do with playing the Chargers considering the fact that Charter Oak would have most likely kicked their collective azzes all the way from here to next Sunday.

Uni won what last season? One game? Two?
At 2000 kids C O may as well have scheduled Nogales.
Lou, oh Lou, I hardly knew yee.
