Baseball: It happened, Nogales knocks off South Hills in the bottom of the 7th

Big game update: It's almost like live blogging, Stevie R., texted that South Hills and Nogales are tied, 1-1, bottom of the seventh. Update II Word from Stevie is that Nogales scores on a wild pitch, wins it 2-1. I would put a picture of Nogales, but I couldn't find one in the archives...shame on us? But ones coming... Here it is

Nogales pitcher Andrew Melchor is off to a great start after sitting out his junior season because of injuries.

YESTERDAY: First lets note that our new No. 1 Bonita showed why again with a 6-2 win over San Dimas on Tuesday. Believe me when I tell you the Bearcats are going the distance. I feel the same way about them as I did Northview last year. They have seniors who have been through it and are hungrier than anyone else

DID YOU KNOW: Gladstone is the "only" undefeated team in the Valley and will put their 6-0 record on the line today at San Marino.

TODAY: Is Nogales the team to finally dethrone seven-time defending San Antonio league champion South Hills. The time has never been better, and I'm guessing the first step happens today. They will also play on Friday at South Hills so if the Nobles don't get them now, they have a tough road to climb ... again.

overrated? at #10 ??

San Marino 4 Gladstone 0
Errors hurt the Gladiators.

They got off to a good start against subpar competition. I am not sure that the teams in the Montview League are going to provide them with much competition. So, they appear to be the early favorites to win league. But, who knows how they will do in the postseason?

Fred,

When you mentioned "live blogging" it made me think of this new application that would be fun to look into. It's from CoveritLive.com and you can use your Twitter account from your cell phone to post a play by play, insert a picture or a live poll, and some other pretty cool features. It opens a window in your thread and is so interactive that readers can add comments or questions and you can send video from your phone to stream in the thread. And best of all, the most important word to a newspaper guy... FREE.
Take a look at CoveritLive.com - it would be like we're all at the games with you.

Diamond Bar beat Walnut after all the smack talking 14-7 with Walnut scoring 5 runs in the last two inning off of the DBar number 6 pitcher...So much for all the smack talk. DBar had to save pitching for tomorrows first league game.

Andy Melchor overthrowing had trouble finding strke zone!!Nothing much after that for Nogales...South Hills ..OVER RATED....Just a couple of "good" ball clubs....nothing to rave about.....THE SAN ANTONIO is Up For Grabs!!! Believe That!!

Did anyone get the D Ranchv. Charter Oak score?
Also wondering about DBar vs, Walnut?
Anyone have scores or updates?

Diamond Bar beats Walnut! DBAR needs to stop with the errors! the outfield needs to read the balls, routine outs become doubles. They can't do that against Glendora!

it's not "WON"...it's BEAT!!!

remember the sound of nails across a chalk board???

the phrase is...we BEAT them...I BEAT you...no one WON you!!!! you don't WON them..

Sorry I'm the worst at spelling and stuff but BEAT get me...sorry.

Hope I made some one chuckle! If I did I WON you over ...if I didn't you got me BEAT! lol

That's a heck of a lot to think about, jk, good idea, I'll run into you again, or send an email.

fred great to of seen you at the glendora championship game. i think the #1 rated team won BONITA.your right if you want to follew loser then we would all go back to are high school days and hang with the friday nighters parties after the football games, boys those where great times,,,back to baseball.you and i should put together a weekly tv sports show, show casing all the local talent and bringing the local coaches on,plus the players of the week, find out what the kids are all about and there plans in life .plus we could keep stats on all of are players whos hot whos not,and you and i will hand pick the east west allstar game.people would really fellow it..605 fwy is the line of east-west ive alredy found two players from the sd - bon. game last night.like the leftie and ss from sd let me know fred. your top 5 teams are right on great job kh

Good job...!

Now lets not get complasent. There is more work to do.Take a deep breath enjoy and work hard..

No worries... Fred still likes NV. Bonita is just shining right now. Will see you soon Fred. NV is still great!!!!

Said it once and I'll say it again, I follow winners, and winners that readers are interested in.

Wow - Freddy has a new love. He must have broken up with Northview and Bonita is now his main squeeze. Come to think of it, I wonder if the Trib encourages freddy to mix it up and have a flavor of the year. Charter Oak, then Amat, then NV and now Bonita. i guess it keeps the readers interested.

The sierra league begins this week and this is the toughest year I can remember in trying to decide the order of finish. Chino Hills won the Don Lugo tournament. Chino is in the finals of their won tournament vs Yucaipa and yesterday's game was cancelled due to bad air from a fire in ontario. Ayala and Damien both have played well in the Glendora tournament. Glendora was runnerup in their own tournament. Diamond Bar finished 2-3 in the Loara tournament losing the last 3 games. The brahmas need to find a 3rd pitcher behind Kenny Mathews and Jake Urban. DBHS has given up a lot of runs with shaky pitching and defense. Unless this improves they could end up in 6th place. As of here are my picks.
1. Ayala good pitcher in Evan Brock and good hitting team. Saw them play Yucaipa in a 1st round cifss game and they can hit.
2. Chino Hills always a tough team with good coaching.
3. Damien played Yucaipa tough and they let 3b-p Matt Davidson beat them with a home run.
4. Diamond Bar Kenny Mathews is tough to beat and Urban needs to keep from the big inning. When Mathews pitches Urban is the ss,however when Urban pitches the ss position becomes suspect.
5. Glendora hard to tell how good they hit as the tournament is played in a small park. Plutco needs to win the friday games for the tartens.
6. Chino seems like they play an easy bracket in the Chino tournament and seems to always have a good team.

San Antonio ways of finish:

Nogales
West Covina
Walnut
So. Hills Rowland

who does the make up for south hills they look dumb...... or are they trying to look scary.

Its auh raaccce...!

I'm looking forward to the outcome of the NHSvsSHHS match up.Win or Lose,The spin that SHHS will put on it will be worthy of the mighty blog arena.. will be good to breath fresh air in the San Antonio Legue. I don't believe in luck so play smart and do what comes natural..
