The inside scoop, O'Brien style
Pat O’Brien told us on the ESPY Awards red carpet to beware, that he was returning to sports somehow. True to his word -- and why wouldn't he be? -- CBS announced Monday that it has rehired "The Insider" to host the U.S. Open Tennis Late Night Show for the network.
We tip our bottomless glasses to him.

It's not as if O'Brien has forgotten how to BS his way around a sports show (he wrote the book on it -- honestly, that's not a doctored photo or something from Photoshop. You can actually still buy it on amazon.com). O’Brien actually first started working at CBS Sports in 1981 on the U.S. Open Tennis Championships, the NFL, including the Super Bowl, MLB, the NCAA Tournament and Final Four and the NBA. He hosted the U.S. Open Tennis Championships for 17 years.
But then in 1990, he went to "Entertainment Tonight," did some reality show "How'd They Do That?", then "Access Hollywood," then "The Insider," then left some phone messages, then appeared on a special with Dr. Phil to come clean and ... who knows what the purpose was.
The bottom line, Pat O'Brien is back, with his posse and ready to go:
