Margett.jpgOutgoing Sen. Bob Margett, R-Glendora, is among the nearly dozen California lawmakers that will be taking a trip to India to learn about education reform and environmental protection, the L.A. Times reports:

Because Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has said he may call a special session to deal with the budget shortfall, Senate leader Don Peralta (D-Oakland) has approved the trip on the condition that those who fly overseas return to California if a budget vote is scheduled.

Those planning to attend the trip include Sens. Gil Cedillo (D-Los Angeles), Ellen Corbett (D-San Leandro), Dave Cox (R- Fair Oaks), Denise Ducheny (D-San Diego), Sheila Kuehl (D-Santa Monica), Bob Margett (R-Arcadia) and Gloria Romero (D-Los Angeles). Sen. Dick Ackerman (R-Irvine) had planned to go, but told organizers he may stay home.

Hmmmmm.....yet another fine example of our taxpayer dollars being spent wisely....or not.

And bureaucrats wonder why the public is fed up with our current system.

Tax dollars are never used for these trips...its the hosting country who pays. India here.

I like how this article omtis the funding source here. If it actually told the full story it would let people know that legislators could NOT use state money to do this. It is always funded by an outside 3 party.

Yeah....we aren't funding the trip, instead we are just paying these legislators salaries and benefits while they are away on vacation. Oops, I mean an important fact finding mission...after all, India strikes me as a leader in the fields of education and environmental protections.

Geez, can't these guys learn about the particulars without flying off to India?...and why go at all if you are going to be out of office in a VERY short time?
