HS FOOT: Desert Christian dominates in opener

Desert Christian of Lancaster won its season opener for the third consecutive year, recording a 38-0 victory Saturday night over California City -- a first-year program -- at Lancaster High.

Emmanuel McConnell rushed for touchdowns of 35 and 25 yards for the Knights, who benefitted from interceptions from Chris Collins and Brodie Speed, as well as two safeties.

Kiel Alcaraz returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown and Steven Cooper scored on a 5-yard run for Desert Christian.
