Baseball: West Valley League should receive top three seeds in City baseball playoffs

| | Comments (0) |

Although it probably won't happen, the West Valley League deserves the top three seeds when officials meet Saturday to determine the 2009 City Section Division I playoff draw.

Cleveland should be No. 1 by virtue of its league championship at 13-2, one victory over Chatsworth and three against El Camino Real.

Chatsworth should be No. 2 as it is one of Southern California's best teams despite two late season losses to ECR and Taft.

Remember, Chatsworth has won the past two City titles and has made six consecutive appearances in the title game.

ECR should be given the nod over Narbonne, the Marine League champion, because it beat them head to head fair and square at Loyola Marymount early in the season.

ECR should not be penalized because it played in the best League in the section and one of the best in Southern California.

We will see what happens Saturday. There are always some surprises.
