Boys Basketball: Fairfax Tournament Update

| | Comments (0) |

Crespi of Encino has to be feeling very good about itself after knocking off Mater Dei of Santa Ana in the first round of the Nike Fairfax tournament.

The Celts trailed by five at halftime but used an 18-2 run in the second half and ran by the Monarchs, who played without North Carolina-bound forwards David and Travis Wear.

Blake Stanton and Gabe Borboa had 16 points each for Crespi.

Andy Brown and Gary Franklin scored 18 and 17 points for Mater Dei.

Mater Dei dressed only seven players and also played without head coach Gary McKnight.

The quarterfinals are now set.

Here is the schedule.

Westchester vs. Loyola, Thursday, 7:10 p.m.
Santa Monica vs. Crespi, Thursday 8:30 p.m.
Taft vs. Dominguez, Friday, 8:30 p.m.
Fairfax vs. Campbell Hall, Friday, 7:10 p.m.
