ECR wins in the rain

ECR defeated Birmingham 1-0 this afternoon in boys soccer.

I was out at this one hiding in the press box while everyone else was out in the rain.

The field was so rain-soaked that by the end of the game there were few scoring chances and the players were trying to kick around the ball in the huge puddle that had accumulated across the entire middle of the field at El Camino Real.

They ended up cancelling the JV game afterwards even though most of the kids were warming up. El Camino's Dylan Niven scored in the second half when Birmingham's keeper Robert Lopez misfired on a clearing attempt that went about two feet before Niven landed it into the empty net. ECR's GK Keon Parsa was pretty impressive making some sliding saves in the mud and controlling the slippery ball.
