Destiny Rodino, a junior softball pitcher from Hart High of Newhall, has committed to UCLA, she announced Monday.

"I'm very excited, just so excited," Rodino said. "It's a full scholarship, and I've wanted to go to UCLA ever since I was a little girl growing up watching Lisa Fernandez and Dot Richardson. I've always wanted to be just like them, so when the offer came up, it was like a dream come true."

Rodino, a left-hander, was 20-5 with a 1.63 ERA last season, helping Hart to the Southern Section Div. I final, a 1-0 loss to Valencia.

In other softball recruiting news, Hart outfielder Alexis Caso has committed to Long Island, and Crescenta Valley' first baseman Ashleigh Viers-Gordillo has committed to Boise State.
