Worship Watch to be on the alert

n the wake of three firebombings of religious centers in the San Fernando Valley, city officials urged worshippers Thursday to band together and defend themselves through a community "worship watch" program.Brandon Lowrey in the Daily News.

"If a religious institution is being attacked, our Bill of Rights is being attacked," City Councilman Richard Alarcon said Thursday night at a meeting with about two dozen community members in Van Nuys.

Alarcon said rewards to round up aggressors and get convictions aren't enough to combat hate crimes.
