Commissioner Goth
Former mayoral candidate Aaron Proctor has been busy dishing out sauce over at proctorformayor.com.
And in case you visit his site and miss it (self-promotion not being one of Aaron's virtues), Aaron's appointment to the Human Relations Commission is up before the council at tonight's meeting. Who nominated Aaron? None other than his former opponent, Pasadena's once-and-future Mayor Bill Bogaard. Because that's the Bogaard Way.
If anything came from the experience, Mr. 11.2%'s exposure to the Pasadena political establishment gave him sufficient comedic material. The kind of stuff I expected to see during his campaign. Some links below, but visit the site for more. And a grievous quantity of his slideshows on the Tubes of You.
-- A tribute to "sexy, sexy" Pasadena Councilman Steve Haderlein. Notably, the companion video embeded above is now Google's fifth result for "Steve Haderlein."
-- His take on an advertisement by defeated District 1 candidate Robin Salzer.
-- What actors he'd cast in his Hollywood treatment of the recent election.
-- A "Top 10" list of rejected ideas to make council meetings more exciting:
10. Sid Tyler as Carnac The Magnificent
9. 30-man Battle Royal at final Senior Center meeting
8. 18 and over to attend, 21+ to drink (with wristband)
7. Joyce Streator bending spoons with her mind
6. “Holding Out For A Hero” by Bonnie Tyler is Bill Bogaard’s new entrance music
5. Pin The Tail On The Madison
4. Paul Little’s opening monologue
3. All of the day’s sports highlights and scores from Victor Gordo
2. If meeting is over in 30 minutes or less, your pizza is free
1. No more discussion at meetings, just show reruns of “Hardcastle & McCormick”
I recounted No. 3 to Councilman Victor Gordo this afternoon, who had not seen Aaron's blog. Victor said he doesn't understand the guff he's been getting over making reference to his "PHS football days" during council meetings.
"Mr. Proctor should know that I couldn't give a very good report, given that I don't even read the sports section of the newspaper," Victor says, trying to be a good sport.
I recall three references in my 10 months or so of attending council meetings. Victor says it was only one.
