A brief chat w/Shawn Pyfrom of "Desperate Housewives"

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,shawn.jpgIt was so good to see the adorable actor Shawn Pyfrom on the red carpet at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday. I've interviewed this guy, who plays Andrew Van De Kamp on "Desperate Housewives" many times since the show premiered five years ago and he has never failed to be anything but completely professional and polite no matter how much screen time he had been getting during any particular season.

Shawn's gay character was front-and-center during the show's first two seasons then put on the back burner for the most part during seasons three and four although he was never completely absent. Andrew was finally given a new love interest this season, Dr. Alex Cominis played by Todd Grinnell.

Here is our little Q and A:

Q. I'm so happy that your character finally has a good storyline again. How's it been?
A. "It's been fun. It's been great to have a little more to do.
Q. We met Andrew when he was in high school. Is he turning out in a way that you like?
A. "Yeah. I think it was sort of necessary for him to grow up and mature and evolve. It's been five years then we jumped five years ahead from where I was! (laughs).
Q. How about the guy who plays your boyfriend? How is it working with him?
A. Todd has been great. He's a very talented guy. It's been very easy to work with him."

I had to wrap things up prematurely because Holly Hunter was standing there waiting for me to interview her. It was an embarrassment of riches! Anyway, hooray for Shawn!
