Carrying on with a slippery tradition at Annapolis...
If ya ask me (and you were going to, right?) the annual Herndon Monument Climb at Annapolis is just a good excuse for a buncha cute guys to take their shirts off and slide off of one another. But the official reason for this yearly homoerotic scene - which took place yesterday - is to get to the top of a greased-up 21-foot granite obelisk.
The first-year midshipmen have to crawl all over each other to get ot the top of the statue in a tradition that marks the end of their "plebe" year. The event had been in danger of being cancelled or overhauled "for the sake of safety and professionalism." But it is widely thought that the sudden hesitation was due to the massive exposure the activity began getting on numerous blogs - especially gay-themed ones!
