Cal Hi
I would say that Arnold's first year as head coach was one of their most talented teams. They won league and lost in the Semi Finals to a FAR superior La Habra team 44-0 I believe. Were you at that game genius? I was & La Habra would have beaten them 100 out of 100 times if they played. The new La Habra in the Southeast is Charter Oak & Cal faces the same dilemma, OUTCLASSED in talent.
If your going to make an assesment of the championships Cal should have won, try to have a clue! By the way, Cal hasn't won league this year, there is still allot of football left.
OK a second league title with Ancich's players, these kids should of won it all at one point, they are the most talented team the school has ever had. The well is dry! Listen; yes we aren't a football school but we were on our way.
O yes, good win, last year we killed them by more. Maybe you’re right about the boys under the lights. But the coaching staff at the frosh and JV has to go next year. They look like the el rancho coaches.
Cal Hi is on pace for a second league title in three years under Coach Arnold. In three years at Cal Hi Ancich they never won a league title. And had one playoff win. Arnold already has two in his first two years. Arnold took Cal Hi to the Semi's two years ago. Ancich never led Cal Hi to the finals or the semi's so i don't know what you dillusional guys are talking about. 8-7 was Ancich's combined league record in three years. Arnold is 10-3 so far. These are facts. The Cal Hi team Ancich took over cupboard was not bare. Patricio left him a solid team and program as did Ancich to Arnold. Ancich went 0-20 since leaving during his two years at Cerritos. And lost to Arnold heads up this year at Villa Park when Ancich supposedly had the superior team. Get off the Ancich bandwagon. Sorry Arnold doesn't cheat and cost his players games and get run out of town like Ancich. If Arnold is on the hot seat that is ridcoulous. Its not like Cal Hi has a storied football past. two league titles in three years would be the best Cal Hi has done since i was alive. Before Arnold they won one in 2000 before that i can't remember the last title before that it was a long time. So if Arnold wins another one this year he will be the most successful coach in several decades. So get off his a** already ignorant fans.
Now that was well said School Pride & I agree with you. I think the coaching WILL need to be addressed on those levels but, your saying that Arnold is in trouble & I don't see why. He has done a decent job so far, especially the way the varsity has improved every week. There is only 1 game they were not it this year & that was La Mirada. They are spread pretty thin but, he has kept them competitive because of their coaching on the varsity level. Not just him, all of the coaches in my opinion are doing a pretty good job. 3-0-1 in the last 4
If they want to build a program, the lower level coaching will definitely need to be looked at. Firing at this point is ridiculous. Remember, it's the big boys on Friday nights that count School Pride. Good luck Condors
Your freshmen lost to ER while ER had their best player injured almost the entire 2nd half.... it would have been worse... you never would have scored a TD in the 4th...
hum if you cant understand my English, why can you still follow this post or if your not a coach why would you care? my school at every football level is losing. it starts with the coaches. the freshmen team was twice the size of the idiot er dons but we lost and the JV lost. have we stoop that low? we cant beat a park team. why, bad coaching.
I'm not a coach, I'm not looking for a job and I have no idea what the hell you are talking about or trying to get across, except that Arnold is getting fired. Please, fill us in and try to use English that we can all understand.
get your facts straight already
arnold helped out on the 2000 DRL CHAMPS team under Coach P.
that team came within seconds of beating a superior Los ALtos TEAM...i know i was there
and i think arnold is taking cal towards a brighter future..league champs and semis first year..a few close plays of a league title last year..he brought back real cal football back..not st.paul ancich ball!!!
To Cal Fan; Please tell us more, "hot seat" Well you knucklehead why don't you ask "Lynn Carmen-Day" here's a on or oops, no need to give names Lol fool!!!! You must be a coach that has his panties in a bunch. Remember when you showed up you were looking for a job. Go back!!!!!!!
Cals freshman lost to whittiers 9-0 what do you mean that the freshman class has a lot of players that are going to see time and be productive on varsity next year. They couldn't even score on the freshman level against whittier. The varsity only has one sophmore on their roster and their J.V. team lost to perenial cellar dweller j.v. team whittier. Mainly cause whittier usually pulls up almost all its decent underclassmen cause of lack of depth. Cal hi is a senior dominante team. it look like things are spreading pretty thin for Cal in the future. This years team is solid though.
No its arms way, fool i know you get it so don't act stupid!!! you want to be filled in, you know already!
School Pride
It's "harms way" moron & what the hell is "on need give names". Pay more attention to your English class and stop worrying about issues you will never have control over.
Arnold is on the hot seat? Please tell us more fool!
To Cal Fan think, ex Cal parent you got it right, and "Facts", he is in arms way! on need to give names.
Ancich did not ever go to the finals. Especially not his first year. His first year they were 0-5 in league what planet are you on?
Cal Fan and School Pride: both get facts strait. Ancich never went to finals and Arnol did not asist Ancich. And Arnold was not defencive cordinator under Patricio when they almost beat Los Altos. i had a kid on that team. he was on staff though.
To Cal Fan, knucklehead your post said exactly what my post said fool. You gave a little more info, but a bit off. Change is a coming.
School Pride
There you go again, talking smack without your facts straight. When did Arnold work under Ancich exactly?
When did Arnold go to the finals?
Arnold was the DC of Cal when they went to the Semi-finals under Jim P. & were seconds from beating Shaun Cody & Los Altos who won the championship. That was before Ancich you fool. After the head coach left, they gave the job to Ancich over Arnold. Then they came to their senses & brought Arnold back.
How long are you Ancich lovers going to cry? It's over, get it through your patheic brains. We now have a better coach, he beat him straight up with inferior players you morons!
Who?.. ” Way”.. Before Ancich, at our beloved Cal High school, brought respect to Cal, Coach Arnold work under him for years. He took Cal to the finals in his first year and the semi- finals the following year. Coach Arnold and his Palm park assistant coaches just took advantage of what was built before they were a part of the school. The freshmen coach is a moron at Cal; he doesn’t have a clue about football. So next year you have someone in arms way, don’t close your eyes Cal.
that's right, La Serna shocked the world last night. League is ours. Chiefs who? Sf looked scared last night and the coaches confused.
Whittier: Work is not enough!! You left out the most important stuff: knowledge of the game and coaching!!
Say What !!!!!Anonymous said:
No he says athletically superior in the area. Does it matter where they come from? NO! they attend SFHS school they are Santa Fe High School. MORON
Who's the MORON now? Slackers !!!
Cal Hi
Next year will be rough for Cal. The freshman class has allot players that will see time next year and then they will be solid for the next two. Nice rumor mill your starting, is that what you are "hopping" for?
The transitive property does not apply in sports.. especially not in football..
Big Oso, it a matter of time but not what you and coach Arnold are hopping for. The well is drying and coach doesn't have a water hose. If you don't believe me ask the administration. Good old coach Jim P. is still there.
Chiefs: Win a CIF game this year!! Stop losing to third place teams!! But, of course you are the "class" of the league. You should be with all those Norwalk athletes.
Ranch: Of course a Del Rio League team is not going to win state. They cannot win CIF nonetheless state!! El Rancho lost to Bell Gardens and Santa Fe beat Bell Gardens by 42. "Hello"
Anonymous: knows nothing. All games are important, like La Mirada beating St. Paul and Cal beating Villa Park!! These games "straighten out" peoples misconceptions!! And they build an important aspect of any sport: MOMENTUM!
No he says athletically superior in the area. Does it matter where they come from? NO! they attend SFHS school they are Santa Fe High School. MORON
youve got to be kidding:
nobody even considers Montebello part of the Whittier area. not even most of their residents.considering most of their ties are to the city of Los Angeles or the Valley. The schools aren't any good either. Go back to the 323.... this is the 562. I wonder what the circulation of this newspaper is in Monetebllo
I am getting tired of hearing how superior Santa Fe is! It means absolutley nothing! They do have tremendous talent year after year. Maybe they need to look at their coaching staff as the problem. Year after year they are projected to go far into the playoffs and year after year they falter, only to be out coached by less superior teams. In my mind their program does less with the most talent. Am I wrong? The 2007 CIF championship game was their best effort and it was emmbarrassing how unprepared their defense was against Schurr. That game came down to coaching. Never have I seen a more undiciplined team as the Santa Fe Chiefs! You may win most of your games thugging it but when you start advancing deep into the playoffs it takes more than brute strenght to win a Title. If you are looking for a program that does more with less and has established a winning attitude throught the years. You have to look to the Schurr Spartans of Montebello. It took them ten years to win their first CIF Championship from the time the school was converted into a high school. Now, some might say what about La Habra and St. Paul. well those programs have always had the talent and do win the the big one but my argument is winning the most with the least. Schurr for years developes football players regardless of being under sized. At Schurr it's always been about team first! I do see in the future a program similiar to Schurr and that is the Cal Condors. I think Coach Arnold is building something special at Cal and it's only a matter of time.
with la serna being 0-5 i think they will bounce back in league. they had a very tough pre-season , and no one in league can compare. good luck la serna in league
RANCH, don't let them bait you.
The buffalo Bills of High School " SF Chiefs " what a bunch short comers or slackers. 50 years and no CIF ring, Wow!!!!!!!
Hum......1) Santa Fe - Athletically superior than any school in area, you do mean with kids outside their area, right. most of those kids aren't from SFS. They've been doing this for years and still can't win a CIF Ring.
Dude, no one in the DRL league has a shot at winning state, wtf are you talking about???? Maybe a long shot at winning CIF, but definitely not state.
Del Rio Fan, How can you say ER is one dimensional, Anthony Ayala is a returning All CIF and All Area Wide Reciever, he had 7 receptions for 111 yards against St Francis of all teams. ER has not one, but 3 solid backs, get ready because one of them is about to run wild on this league. ER's win against West Covina should mean something, keep counting out the ranch.
Hey Roger,
Why don't you just admit to bias against the city of Montebello and just get it over with.
Let me ask you this question. When was the last time you actually came down to the city of Montebello and covered a football game?
Right...since the dinosaurs roamed the earth.
The only time you've covered Schurr in the last two years is when they've play in the city of Whittier. You haven't covered a Montebello or Cantwell game, regardless of where they've played in at least 5 years!
Look at this week. Schurr has a huge game against Alhambra and Montebello has a huge game with BG.
But I bet they'll get both get four-inch write ups. I bet you won't personally go to either game. Let me guess, you're sending down Rudy Ramos or Andrew Campa or some other stringer right?
Look at your notebook today. You write about Santa Fe AGAIN.
Hey, I like Santa Fe. I have a nephew who goes there and they are deserving of much attention...but all of it.
You've already written two features on them and several notebooks.
How many features have you done on Schurr or Montebello or Cantwell football! Exactly. None!
But because you're good friends with Arnold and Malhstede, you'll write about Cal-Hi and Santa Fe every week, right?
Isn't it time to get over your crush of Arnold?
I wish all the teams the best of luck and wish you'd consider covering some Montebello/Schurr/Cantwell football every once a in a while.
Thanks,
Oiler fan (class of 93)
A state championship...no one remembers a CIF champion...And I'm the moron. Finally try and get a normal conversation and some genius posts a completely contradictory statement on how all games means something but not preseason games or CIF championships just state championships....
When was the last time a Del Rio team won the CIF?
Santa Fe should have won but got out coached against Schurr.
What do you mean these games mean nothing? Are you a moron? Are you satisfied with winning league and league alone? You play to be the best. The Best is winning STATE! If you don't do well preseason and you win league and a CIF, who cares. No one remembers them. Everyone will always remember a State Champion. Bottom line is this, you are happy winning a weak DRL title, then good for you. We will see you as a second rate team. THATS ALL!
Enough with the ridiculous bashing of every school out there. All the games played up to this point don't mean a thing because league is here. What are your predictions for the league title this year? Honest opinions, no ridiculous comments or personal agendas...who will be the 2009 champ??? Here we go...
1) Santa Fe - Athletically superior than any school in area
2) Cal- Two solid offensive linemen and a great back
3) Whittier - One dimensional, but they execute
4) ER - Good RB, that's it, one dimensional as well
5) Pioneer - Spread offense (Unique in this league)
gives them the nod above LS
6) La Serna - Down year athletically, although they did
play a tough preseason
o man cal, and you (fear birds) guys want to play St.Paul? Or is it that you cal think and hope that you can beat us. cal you have stated cal will beat SP. NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whittier: I have always stated that Whittier has the athletes to do better!!
And you are exactly correct: "The parents and the coaches"!! I am one who believes the parents should not be involved with the coaches. They should do the booster work!
I never mentioned "complain".
cal will not lose to Pioneer? "bull" you punks are going down. your alums dont even like your coaches.
Well it smells like something? I know it's "fear" cal is dropping to their knees. Wow and we haven't play the game!!!! Bring that wild cat. And we'll skin it!!!
Chief fans, nobody is calling out Santa Fe. Anyone with half a brain knows the Chiefs are the class of the DRL this year by a wide margin. Do us a favor though, show up come playoff time and represent the Del Rio. As long as you stay healthy, you will have a shot. Cal will not lose to Pioneer moron.
Cal Hi, like I said we'll going to kill you !!!!!! who is DRL Champs? Jones is slow and does not want to get hit. cheap pioneer will beat you.
Great win Cal. Maybe now those parents will shut up. Ancich scheduled a few average teams to get the Wins going at Villa Park (a school that probably needs wins to build their confidence)! They have not exactly been a powerhouse lately. That is Ok. He scheduled some terrible clubs when he was at Cal!!....Buena Park, Bassett (I think), and El Monte.
But, I am certainly not bashing Ancich. He can coach; and all the young coaches with him are "football lovers"! You have to have them to "sell the sport".
Cal could be 4 and 1 ish if they were playing those teams. Cal has played a very strong pre-season schedule. I would like to see it "pay off"!!
Arnold is the worst coach Cal Hi has had. Those er coaches have to go back to the ghetto.
Hey sports fan original, what do you think of us now? Its easy to throw rocks isn't it. Our parents and coaches do the work and don't complain.
nice Lil win, but Santa Fe is going to take cal to the woodshed. We own you guys.
Let me see....hmmm....there is Schurr...there is Oilers...and oh yes, Cantwell. That makes three Montebello schools....GENIUS!
Good job Cal, I guess Arnold is not so bad after all Cal parents or was it Ancich & crew talking all the smack. Either way, the better coach won.
I went to that grudge match & Villa Park was way bigger, but not tougher. They were talking alot of crap before that game. They weren't talking anything at the end, Cal shut them up nicely.
That's the way to schedule homecoming Dusin, that worked real well for you. Your alumni got to see your stellar coaching job, numerous stupid penalties & 6 turnovers. Like I said before, I would rather win or lose with a program that is straight up & run with class, something you know nothing about.
Congratulations kids & staff on a very nice win for the program, I bet that felt good.
Yo, Local Football Fan:
Not sure on what you based your 'blatantly biased' allegation , but one thing is certain. Montebello has THREE football programs. But then, that probably doesn't qualify (subliminally?) as a bias on your part, does it?
.
Bishop Amat is a MEDIOCRE FOOTBALL program at BEST.
.
.
27 - 26 Last Five YEARS. So, not only is it Mediocre, but its also a LOSING RECORD at the end of this year!!!
NOBODY AT AMAT WANTS TO ARGUE THAT FOOTBALL FACT. DO YOU, AMAT?
Not only are you Ignorant and Arrogant, but you're also Embarrassed & Ashamed!
Embarrassed and Ashamed of their Football program:
NO CIF RING IN 15 YEARS,
NO BANNER IN 15 YEARS,
AND NO CHAMPION!
One loss by St. Bonnie
.
.
NO CHAMPION!
Over Raaated . . .! Clap...Clap...Clap!!! OVER RAAATED!!!
A little late and still wrong... What do you have against Schurr? You always go against them, and give them zero credit for their play and even less ink. Stop being so blatantly biased for YOUR OILERS. Remember, there are two football programs in Montebello.
Hey La Serna,
Word at Los Altos is they're gonna roll another beatdown on you just like Warren did last week.
