The Sharks phoned this one in and the Kings still lost.
There's a really good chance Victor Hedman or John Tavares will be Kings next year.
Why is it that we always lose a close one on a _ussy goal. C'mon Babs.
I feel like we're already headed for the Tavares auction.
2 games, zero points and I am happy. The Kings are playing good team defense and didn't give up a power play goal. Played most of the game without JMFJ and Kopitar for 10 minutes. San Jose's got a very good team and the Kings could have won this game except for the disallowed goals. I would like to see some points but at least this year's team is competing. Sully looked good, the team just needs to get used to each other and the scoring will come. Labarbara's angle was a little off on that goal, but Kaspar's shot was perfect, hard to beat that.
Was at the game. One of the most poorly officiated games I've seen in a while. Kingsacked pep, especially in the final minutes.
Our passing sucked so bad it goes beyond chemistry problems.
Handsuz played another strong game. Sully was surprisingly solid for not having ever played with Stoll or Moller.
Speaking of Moller, I thought he was our most consistent forward all night. He brings the energy EVERY shift and hits as much as Brown. Simmonds looked outmanned and outclassed again. So raw. He desparately needs to add some muscle and calm down. Too jumpy.
Labs wasn't bad but we lost by a goal and that goal was a baaad goal again. He gets beat way too easily from bad angles. I can't remember a game where he didn't give up atleast one soft goal.
Overall I thought we played better than last night, which is sad.
Stoll really dissapoints me. His decisions with the puck are poor at best.
More later when I've calmed down...grrrrr...
I wish the Kings could just break the puck out of their zone. I feel like this is a wish I have every year.
Just got back from the game. That one goal was a bad one. Babs was solid for the rest of the game. Franchise goal tenders don't allow bad goals like that but we all know he's not a franchise goalie.
I disagree with another poster that SJ phoned this one in. I think the Kings played a much more controlled and composed defense. The scoring will come when they are more comfortable with position on defense to the point they don't need to think too much about it. Like NMKings fan I'm happy. I saw a much better game that we could have won all the way to the end. That is progress.
Let's see how we fare with Anaheim. I expect more improvement and hopefully some SCORING. Also, Kopi breaking the glass is great. I love that kind of thing. It shows desire to win. I think we are going to be okay this year.
2 games - 4 goals allowed and it really showed on D.
2 Games - 1 goal scored, our chemistry is non existant, lets hope they find it by Tuesday, I don't want the Ducks to have this type of success against us.
It may be what some call "soft Goals", but he has a .937 save% and 2.00 goals against. Are you guys telling me that's the problem? I don't think so, he's playing great. The rest of our team has bigger problems. The passing still stinks, but it was ten times better than it was yesterday. Everybody played better tonight. I saw improvement and that makes me feel a little better.
PK is outstanding. All our break outs in the first two games have come from the PK.
Fro, I thought was outstanding. Handz played another solid game. I'm impressed by him so far. I'm liking this Moller kid. Also glad to see our "true first line" together again tonight.
Was at the game....MUCH more solid on defense this yr. They are so young but you can see the talent on this team to come. They will get it together soon. The crease thing was wierd. Did the league bring that back into the rules again? That was a slapshot for God's sake....in the crease??? That was lame when they had that rule yrs ago.
our biggest issue is our inability to transition out of our defensive zone. [imo]
i'm going to remain optimistic and say it is the product of a lack of chemistry and their focus on defensive play.
too much 'swiping' at pucks. tentative as opposed to assertive.
overall i am pleased with what i am seeing.
What's with the unfounded hate on Simmonds and Labarbera?
1st Labarbera. That shot had to be perfect to beat him and it was. That was the only goal he gave up all game. As Duckhunter said, that's a .937 and a 2.00. And tons of franchise goalies (Turco, Nabokov, Kiprusoff, etc.) give up goals like that all the time. If you have something personal against Labs fine, but save the criticism for when he ACTUALLY plays badly.
Simmonds is only 20 years old and is making things happen on every shift. That's more than I can say for Derek Armstrong, Kyle Calder or even 6-million dollar man Anze Kopitar at this point. Stop the hating on a kid in his second NHL game. He's not hurting us and he's making things happen. What were you expecting, back-to-back hat tricks from a third liner?
PRMan - I agree with you until you slight Kopitar. Just don't go there. It shows ignorance.
