Malkin signs extension
According to TSN, Pittsburgh has signed Evgeni Malkin to a five-year contract extension. The story says the extension ``is believed to mirror the extension Pens captain Sidney Crosby signed in July of 2007, a five-year deal averaging $8.7 million.''

I think Anze for 8 years at 52 million sounds fair after this
Pens run the risk of becoming the next Tampa Bay if they don't watch their salaries. 16 mill for two players, granted they are young and amazing players but still.

So you think Malkin is worth $2.2M more a season then Kopitar??!!!
Yeah, at this point. Malkin he been battle tested in the playoffs. He also has put up more points over the last 2 years. He also gets 2 years less than Anze. Anze's deal is very comparable to Joe Thorntons. I think it would be a fair offer. Anze makes less the first 2 years than gets a raise putting him closer to Malkin for when be is projected to be performing like Malkin.
