There are several reports, unconfirmed as of yet by the Daily News, that the Dodgers have acquired Boston's Manny Ramirez in a three-team trade. According to a report by foxsports.com, the Dodgers will give up third baseman Andy LaRoche and pitcher Bryan Morris, who will head to Pittsburgh along with Boston players Brandon Moss and Craig Hansen. Pittsburgh's Jason Bay would go to Boston.

Maybe this is the shot in the arm that the Dodgers need to go the extra mile in October. I'm excited.

YEAH!!! Finally some balls to pull the trigger on a difference maker! When I heard about Maddux, I was like, oh well... But manny belongs here. We finally did something nobody can question.

Wonderful. I hope his locker is next to Kent's. Manny is the perfect mentor for all our young players. Doubt he'll be resigned, which means we gave away LaRoche and a former first rounder for a rental. If you're a short term fan who is hoping to get to the playoffs (and get swept in the first round) this is a good day. If you want the Dodgers to build a championship team, this is a Colletti day.

from FoxSports:

>>> The Red Sox will pay all of the approximately $7 million remaining on Ramirez's contract.

>>>> Ramirez should provide a major boost to the Dodgers' offense, but his arrival will add to the crowd in the Dodgers' outfield, which already includes Andre Ethier, Matt Kemp, Juan Pierre and Andruw Jones

(should have thrown in AJ in the deal)

2 "prospects" for one of the best hitters in the game, on a team that desperately needs power, and is one game out of first, and you complain? Manny is a weird dude, but he hits, and if the Dodgers make the playoffs this year, then the deal was worth it, unless Andy LaRoche is Mike Schmidt.

I do think it will be interesting watching Manny play left field in Dodger Stadium, I hope Joe's heart is in good shape.

The Pierre bashers should be happy, there's no place for him to play now.

FireColletti, you said it. No doubt that Manny is an awesome hitter, but he's totally poison.
